June/2021 UPDATES

29/June/2021 Posted by Freddy

So while I was taking a break, I decided to read one of the newer Star Wars comic book series. One which has proven to be a little controversial as it connects to the movies and reveals various things behind the scenes of those movies (which always gets people annoyed). Now, I really enjoyed the first few issues, and thought it worthy of covering, especially as it really hooks into all three trilogies in a way that I found interesting and really quite important. So here's my review of the first issue, Darth Vader: Issue 1: Dark Heart of the Sith: Part I, and today we've added Cliegg Lars (Human Moisture Farmer), Shmi Skywalker Lars (Human Slave), Lieutenant Ardo Banch (Human Imperial Officer), & ZED-6-7 (Imperial SP-4 ISC forensics droid) all to the Star Wars D/6 Characters Section of the Site.
Now obviously only a couple of these are characters in the comic, while the others are just mentioned in it, but I realised that they hadn't been added to the site before, so took the opportunity.
Also currently there are only 13 issues for me to cover, as it's a continuing series, so I'll work my way through those 13, and then cover the others as they are released in the future.

So I'm back with a review of Star Wars: The Bad Batch: Season 1 Episode 9: Bounty Lost, which was pretty good.
I usually use the same image for the review as I do for the update, but I did love the way Bora Vio looks, so I've used an image of it today.
Back tomorrow with a new series for reviews and stats, it's kind of newer which I know isn't that popular with visitors, but it's been one of the more revelatory series of recent times, so I thought it worthy of review and coverage.

Turns out I forgot to put up a link to Episode 6 of The Bad Batch a couple of weeks ago, so here it is
Season 1 Episode 6: Decommissioned. And we've written and added out review of the latest episode as well, Star Wars: The Bad Batch: Season 1 Episode 8: Reunion, which is pretty darn brilliant.

A small code update to the site today, as it was suggested that it would be useful to be able to see the canonicity of stats on each page, as well as some other details.
So at the top of each stats page, there's now a small block which shows which section the stat is from (for example the Starships, or Characters sections), which faction it belongs to (Rebel Alliance, Empire, etc), the subtype (Capital Ships, Starfighters, etc), the Era it belongs to (so Infinities, Imperial, Old Republic, etc), and it's state within Canon (if it's canon or not, or even EU or a Crossover).
These details were already stored in the system for the menu system, so it was a simple matter to display them, and we hope it's of some use to you all.

And so we reach the end of the Infinites series, with our review of Star Wars Infinities: Return of the Jedi 4, and the addition of Anakin Skywalker (Redeemed Human Jedi) to the Star Wars D/6 Characters Section of the Site.
This version of Redeemed Anakin/Vader, is heavily based on the version in the Star Wars Sourcebook by West End Games, with some additions as obviously after that book was published we discovered that Anakin built C-3PO and a Podracer in his youth, so obviously should have some skills in that area.
So as usual, I'll take a weeks break before moving onto my next project, which I'm tempted to make one of the older computer games, maybe working my way through the Dark Forces series of games, or the Force Unleashed ones as I don't feel quite ready to face the Knights of the Old Republic comic series, or the entirety of Legacy.
But if there's anything you'd like to see me cover, just leave a comment and I'll definitely consider it, as it might be something I've never read or played so a chance for me to experience some new Star Wars to enjoy.

Onto the penultimate issue of Infinities with our review of Star Wars Infinities: Return of the Jedi 3, and once again the story sticks so close to the original version of Return of the Jedi that there's nothing really different to add, so we've reached back to the original trilogy and found the MerenData V-series droid supervisor which we've added to the Star Wars D/6 Droids Section of the Site.
I find myself wondering if I should go back and cover all of the older films, to provide better coverage of the Prequels, and to pick up things that were missed from the Original Trilogy like this. . . .

And back to our Infinities coverage with our review of Star Wars Infinities: Return of the Jedi 2, and we've added Mon Mothma (as of Return of the Jedi) to the Star Wars D/6 Characters Section of the Site.
Now these stats are a bit of a weird hybrid between the Stat's we made for Mon Mothma for the Rebels series, and the ones published by West End Games in their "The Movie Trilogy" Sourcebook. We've done this as we found the published stats to be a bit weird, as she has Starfighter Piloting, but poor Communications systems skills, which doesn't seem right for someone who would be sending and receiving encrypted communications all the time. I'm not sure if the hybrid stats are an improvement, or whether they just please no-one, but here they are regardless.

So our latest Bad Batch review with Episode 7: Battle Scars, which we found a little predictable, but still an enjoyable episode which keeps the high standard going for this series.

So we move onto the third in the trilogy of Infinities with Star Wars Infinities: Return of the Jedi 1. As with the first parts of the other Infinities stories, this isn't much different to the original movie, so there's nothing I could really find to add to the site. However, I realised I'd missed doing the reprogrammed evil C-3PO from Infinities A New Hope, so I've added him today, C-3PO (Infinities: Reprogrammed Protocol Droid) to the Star Wars D/6 Characters Section of the Site.

So we reach the end of The Empire Strikes Back part of Infinities, with Star Wars Infinities: The Empire Strikes Back 4, and today we've added Princess Leia (Infinities Human Jedi Knight) to the Star Wars D/6 Characters Section of the Site. Back tomorrow with Infinities Return of the Jedi.

After taking a break for The Bad Batch review yesterday, today we've got Star Wars Infinities: The Empire Strikes Back 3, and we've added Vilmarh Grahrk {Uncle Villie} (Devaronian Smuggler) to the Star Wars D/6 Characters Section of the Site.
Tried a different trick today which I've not done before by adding two images to a set of stats, one for the Original Timeline and one for the Infinities Timeline. Not 100% sure how it'll look for everyone, but thought it was worth it as this character looks so different in each.

Today we've got Star Wars Infinities: The Empire Strikes Back 2 as we reach the half way point of this series, and we're still struggling for anything different to the original timeline, so I've just added the BioTech Industries Borg Construct Aj^6 to the Star Wars D/6 Equipment Section of the Site. Now this is pretty similar to that shown in the Crackens Rebel Field Guide, but I've modified it as I didn't think the original matched what we've seen of this implant, and didn't offer enough advantage/flexibility/costs for the user.

And we move onto Star Wars Infinities: The Empire Strikes Back 1 as we move through Star Wars Infinities, and although it suffers from the same problem as the first couple of parts of Infinities A New Hope, in that it's very similar to the movies so there's nothing new to stat. It does give us the excuse to add stats for something we probably should have covered either when we were doing Attack of the Clones back in the early 2000's, or season 2 of The Mandalorian last year, Slave 1 (as of Empire Strikes Back) which we've added to the Star Wars D/6 Starships Section of the Site.
Now these stats are obviously heavily based off those in Galaxy Guide 3: The Empire Strikes Back, but have been tweaked from Wookieepedia with more modern information about the capabilities of the ship.
