So the basics of a camouflage ability for animals is based on generally one of two principles

ambush ie use it to capture prey by luring it close

or

Protection using it to hide from predators

so given this things size you have to wonder with some horrid fascination what this thing hunts or what could possibly be hunting it to make it need a camo pattern like that

also given its size tell me that thing isnt walker scale LOL :=^_^=
