"How many?!?"

This took place during an Earthdawn adventure, I was playing Cedric, my T`skrang Thief, K was playing "D" his Elf Swordsmaster, C was playing a Troll Skyraider, R was playing Mirror his elf wizard and another player was playing a Obsidiman Fighter.

The campaign had been established, and we were a group of heroes wandering the world, out to make a name for ourselves, the set up for the adventure was that we were hired to deliver a letter. The journey would be mildly dangerous, but the money was good.

So we set off and successfully arrived at the village where we were to deliver the letter, however we discovered the village was under the control of "The Grim Legion", who wouldn`t allow anyone in or out of the village.

So we started planning, ambushes to lead some of this evil group out of the villages, traps, everything we could do to beat this obviously superior force. We were given a map of the village, and could see weaknesses in the defences we could take advantage of, ways to sneak in, and sabotage to take out some of the Grim Legion. This went on for an hour or so, until someone asked a fairly obvious question that no-one else had thought to ask.

"How many of them are there?, we`ve been spying on them, so we should be able to get a fairly accurate count."

GM: "About 12 !"

"What ?!?"

GM: "Theres about 12 of them !"

"Let me get this right, the GRIM LEGION amounts to 12 people."

We eventually came to the decision that "a legion" was a measurement somewhat like a dozen, so a legion was 12, a battalion 11, and so on. To L`s credit (it was he that was GM`ing) he did explain later that the rest of the Legion were elsewhere, but unfortunately not soon enough to save the Grim Legion from becoming a source of much hilarity.

The few in the village got their ass kicked, and our party went on to rename themselves "The Unspeakable Army of Doom".
