May/2018 UPDATES

30/May/2018 Posted by Freddy

A few updates today based on the subject of yesterdays review of, Star Wars: The Clone Wars: Unfinished Episode 3: Crystal Crisis. Today I've added the Jamel and Utapau plains quadruped to the Star Wars D/6 Creatures Section, and Count Dooku / Darth Tyranus (as of The Clone Wars), General Grievous (as of The Clone Wars), Obi-Wan Kenobi (as of The Clone Wars) and Anakin Skywalker (as of The Clone Wars) to the Star Wars D/6 Characters Section of the Site.

This is actually the first version of Anakin that we've published, which seems a crazy oversight on our behalf, remedied now though. Also updated versions of Obi-Wan, Grievous and Dooku, with Dooku being the most similar to his old version, Obi Wan a hybrid between the published version and the one we did for The Phantom Menace, and Grievous updated to reflect comments made when we first published him.
When I first attempted Grievous, people complained because I gave him a 20D lightsaber skill, which I felt necessary for him to challenge Obi-Wan (my comments on this can be found in the editorial Stats).
I've updated him to reflect peoples comments, giving him only a 9D skill, but a 6D combat computer, taking his skill up to 15D, which should at least challenge the Obi-Wan I've put in today, with a combined Lightsaber + Sense of 15D+2.

I don't usually mention this on the day I do the review, but I watched and reviewedStar Wars: The Clone Wars: Unfinished Episode 3: Crystal Crisis this morning. And then hit the movie theatre with my lovely wife to see Solo: A Star Wars Story which I've reviewed this afternoon. SPOILERS {obviously}, and any spoilerish comments in the review than anywhere else please.

A few wee updates based on the subject of yesterdays review, Star Wars: The Clone Wars: Unfinished Episode 2: In Search of the Crystal. Today I've added, the Utai to the Star Wars D/6 Races Section, the DevTech Sidearms Vilmarhs Revenge precision laser dart to the Star Wars D/6 Weapons Section, and an updated version of Utapau to the Star Wars D/6 Planets Section of the Site.

Nothing hugely interesting today, I've got a bit of a headache and aren't feeling especially inspired, but 3 additions to the site isn't too bad.

A few updates from the subject of yesterdays review, Star Wars: The Clone Wars: Unfiniished Episode 1: A Death on Utapau. Today I've added the Dactillion to the Star Wars D/6 Creatures Section, Holowan Mechanicals IG-100 MagnaGuard to the Star Wars D/6 Droids Section, Pauan to the Star Wars D/6 Races Section, and Baktoid Armor Workshop Single Trooper Aerial Platform (STAP) to the Star Wars D/6 Vehicles Section of the Site.

I'm really not sure about my treatment of the MagnaGuards, as they come with so many systems from self destructs to cloaking systems, and have to be able to stand toe to toe with a Jedi for a short time, I feel as if they're overpowered, while not being powerful enough. Anyone got any thoughts?

Today we've got a few updates based on the subject of yesterdays review, Star Wars: The Clone Wars: Season 6 Episode 13: Sacrifice. I've added, Dark illusion to the Star Wars D/6 The Force Section, Moraband to the Star Wars D6 Planets Section, and Moraband serpent to the Star Wars D/6 Creatures Section of the Site.

And that's all of the broadcast episodes of Star Wars: The Clone Wars, reviewed and stat'ed, not a minor feat, and as I said at the start of this project, when I've got a goal, I'm pretty good at carrying through with that goal.
        So what next?
Well, tomorrow, I'm heading straight into the 8 unfinished episodes of The Clone Wars, and working my way through them over the next few days. For some reason after Disney bought Lucasfilm, almost everything else was marked as non-canon, even the slightly older Clone Wars series. However, even though they were never finished, and never broadcast, and only released on Youtube, these 8 episodes are apparently Canon. So I'll treat them as the rest of the series, and review and stat them.

A couple of updates today, based on the subject of yesterdays review, Star Wars: The Clone Wars: Season 6 Episode 12: Destiny. There's not a lot to stat from this episode, as it's mainly just Yoda having visions of events we've seen elsewhere, so I was really reaching a bit. Today I've added the Wellspring of Life to the Star Wars D/6 Planets Section, and Force vision to the Star Wars D/6 The Force Section of the Site.

Well, one episode to go before I reach the end of the broadcast "The Clone Wars" series, I'm going to do the incomplete episodes after that, because they're counted as canon.

Elite: Dangerous Role-Playing Game

I've long been a player of Elite Dangerous, being a Kickstarter funder of the project. As you can probably tell, I've been a fan of the series since the original version on the BBC Micro (played on my friend David's BBC), through the C-64 and Amiga version, Frontier, Oolite on the PC, and most recently Elite Dangerous. I stat'ed out some of the ships from the original for the site, many years ago.
I love being a poor mans Han Solo, flying my freighter around the galaxy, although don't have anywhere enough time to play much of it at the moment.
So when the Elite Dangerous: Role-Playing Game was announced I kept an eye on it, haven't had chance to pick up a copy, but it seems quite interesting, since rather than being the crew of a ship, each player commands their own vessel, and they play as a small fleet of ships.

        Anyway . . .

BLAST INTO A DANGEROUS GALAXY…
â€â€Ã¢â‚¬â€Ã¢â‚¬â€
…where the police shoot on sight, entire systems are overrun with space pirates, and money is the only thing that talks. Gear up with high tech equipment to overcome heavily armoured combat drones, elite corporate assassins, and over-gunned soldiers of the interstellar powers.

RELENTLESS FAST-PACED COMBAT
â€â€Ã¢â‚¬â€Ã¢â‚¬â€
Each player owns their own spaceship, which is completely customizable with multi-cannons, plasma accelerators, enhanced shields and super-fast Frame Shift Drives. Land on alien planets and get behind the wheel of your Surface Reconnaissance Vehicle (SRV) to explore, or strap yourself into your own battle tank and storm pirate bases.

STRAP YOURSELF IN AND ROLL THE DICE
â€â€Ã¢â‚¬â€Ã¢â‚¬â€
Elite: Dangerous is the modern day incarnation of the seminal space trading game Elite. 30 years after the original game reinvented the way people experienced playing computer games, Elite: Dangerous Role Playing Game seeks to immerse the role player in the same cut throat galaxy experience by online players.

Just a couple of updates today, from the subject of yesterdays review, Star Wars: The Clone Wars: Season 6 Episode 11: Voices. Today I've added Yodas Starfighter {Modified Kuat Systems Engineering Eta-2 Actis light interceptor} and Kuat Drive Yards/Allanteen Six shipyards Venator-class Star Destroyer to the Star Wars D/6 Starships Section of the Site.

The Venator is an update to the one that's been on the site for over a decade, which was surprisingly accurate apart from a few things here and there (Hyperspace Speed, what it carries, etc).

As I mentioned in my review of the episode, I thought that Yoda's Starfighter was another step in the evolution of the Eta-2 Actis into the Tie Fighter. However, it turns out it's a modified Eta-2 Actis, which doesn't feel right to me. When we've seen modified ships before, it's always been small changes to the design, for example the large engines that Anakin added to his Delta-7, which are obviously add ons to an already existing design. However, Yoda's Starfighter seems to have totally changed the ship in almost every way, while keeping the same general shape, yet smaller. Anyway, just my thoughts.

Just a few updates today, from the subject of yesterdays review, Star Wars: The Clone Wars: Season 6 Episode 10: The Lost One. Today I've added, Finis Valorum to then Star Wars D/6 Characters Section, Moogan, Ongree & Thisspiasian to the Star Wars D/6 Races Section of the Site.

Doing Valorum today reminded me how desperately close to the end of The Clone Wars Series I am, so will need to do updated versions of all the heroes over the next few updates. I'm thinking that some won't need massive updates, such as Yoda, but the main heroes probably do (for example Amidala's piloting skill as of Geonosis I put as 3D+1, where throughout Clone Wars I think she proves herself better than that). Anyone any thoughts on how the heroes need adapted?

A few updates today from the subject of yesterdays review, Star Wars: The Clone Wars: Season 6 Episode 9: The Disappeared, Part II. Today I've added Nimbanel, Gossam to the Star Wars D/6 Races Section, Stone guardian to the Star Wars D/6 Droids Section, and the Zardossa Rail Speeder to the Star Wars D/6 Vehicles Section of the Site.

I know I've been leaning on Wookieepedia a lot for the stats from Clone Wars, however I must admit a little frustration today. I tend to note when watching the episodes, what I'm going to stat out the next day, and during season six, I keep seeing things which aren't on Wookiepedia at all. There were two speeders in the most recent episode (one of which I hunted down on the German YodaPedia (thanks Google Translate)), and the Taxi-speeder that Five's uses on Coruscant in the early part of the season wasn't covered either, and I thought it was a much better design than the usual Taxi-speeders. Oh well, guess I should just put more work in, to flesh the site out even more.

A couple of additions to the site today, based on the subject of yesterdays review, Star Wars: The Clone Wars: Season 6 Episode 8: The Disappeared, Part 1. Today I've added the Phuii (Bardottan) to the Star Wars D/6 Races Section, and Bardotta to the Star Wars D/6 Planets Section of the Site.

Paranoia

Another great article over on EnWorld about a game I always bought and read the sourcebooks and adventures, but could never be bothered playing, Paranoia. I got into it in during the 2nd Edition, co-published in the UK by Games Workshop (as many games were at the time) and bought almost all of the adventures and sourcebooks, which I adored. Although it kind of ran out of steam towards the end, when there was the system crash and Alpha Complex collapsed, but there were still some genuinely amusing parts in the crossovers with Twilight 2000 and Cyberpunk.

A few additions based on the subject of yesterdays review, Star Wars: The Clone Wars: Season 6 Episode 7: Crisis at the Heart. Today I've added Rothana Heavy Engineering Low Altitude Assault Transport/cargo Carrier, Rothana Heavy Engineering Low Altitude Assault Transport/infantry repulsorlift gunship to the Star Wars D/6 Vehicles Section, Huppla Pasa Tisc Shipwrights Collective Punworcca 116-class interstellar sloop to the Star Wars D/6 Starships Section, and Muun, Chagrian to the Star Wars D/6 Race Section of the Site.
I'm just updating the LAAT's using more up to date information, but was totally taken aback that I'd never done the Punworcca 116 before, given it features heavily in Attack of the Clones.

The Price of Freedom

A great article on EnWorld about the 1980's RPG, The Price of Freedom. Basically a heavy rip off of the Red Dawn movie, set during a Russian invasion of the United States of America, which seems so ridiculous now and provides a whole load of nostalgia for me.
Anyway, it's one of the few RPG's I really wanted to own, but never got my hands on (I'm a bit of a hoarder for RPG's, and rarely don't pick one up if I fancy it in the very slightest).

Only one addition to the site today, based on the subject of yesterdays review, Star Wars: The Clone Wars: Season 6 Episode 6: The Rise of Clovis. Today I've added Theed Palace Space Vessel Engineering Corps/Nubia Star Drives, Incorporated J-type star skiff to the Star Wars D/6 Starships Section of the Site.

I have to admit todays addition was one of those, "What, I haven't done that already!" moments, where I couldn't believe this ship, which plays a fairly major role in Episode 3, wasn't on the site already? Oh well, it is now.

Well been ill for a couple of days, so not as productive as I'd hoped, but here's a couple of additions from yesterdays review of Star Wars: The Clone Wars: Season 6 Episode 4: Orders. Today I've addedUbrikkian Steamworks DD-13 medical assistant droid to the Star Wars D/6 Droids Section, and Deflector shield generator to the Star Wars D/6 Equipment Section of the Site.
Also the day after I added AZI-345211896246498721347, he revealed that he was a transformer, and could change into a Speeder Bike to save Fives, proving that I've been pretty much right in never adding stats to the site until the last appearance in Clone Wars. A rule I've broken a few times, but been punished whenever I have broken it. Oh, well, I've updated AZI to incorporate his Speeder Bike emergency mode as best I can, and fingers crossed he doesn't appear in the final few episodes with a Death Star Mode or something like that.

Just a couple of updates today from the subject of yesterdays review, Star Wars: The Clone Wars: Season 6 Episode 2: Conspiracy. Today I've added AZI-345211896246498721347 to the Star Wars D/6 Characters Section, and the Slayn and Korpil V-19 Torrent Starfighter to the Star Wars D/6 Starships Section of the Site.
The Torrent is an updated version, with only very slight tweaking to bring it into line with established Canon.
