AF-38 M-Wing Starfighter

Developed by the dual system consortium Brayad-Nygurin, the M-Wing was
designed to be an extremely fast fighter with both the menuverability to
outclass any fighter andhave enough power to take on even full capital
ships with only others of its class. Finding no way to accomplish this
using conventional power plants, the design engineers decided to go with a
more powerful, but dangerous power plant. Fitting the M-Wing with an anti-
matter power plant, they found that not only did the craft have enough
power to give a large boost to both speed and meneuverability, but it also
had enough power increase the shields, and power a large array of weapons.

The main problem with this was the fact that if the power plant was hit and
damaged, two thirds of the time the containment field will collapse,
resulting in a catastrophic explosion that destroys the ship and everything
around it (doing 2D (2d10x2) damage to everything within 500 meters 5D
(5d10x2) within 100 meters).

Another problem with this design of fighter is the extreme change in
performance when the power plant is brought to full power. with the
enhanced thrust system energized and dumping pure power to thrusters, an
inexpirienced pilot is quickly thrown all overthesky, actually causing a
-2D+1 modifier to meneuverability until the pilot achieves a specialized
skill level. Once that level of skill is achieved, however, the M-Wing is a
truely daunting opponent.

In the rear of the main body are two wells, which hold interchangeable
weapons pods, which can hold proton torpedoes, cuncussion missiles, or a
variety of other munitions like shield generators, ECM pods, cargo pods, or
more lasers and or ion cannons.

Its always cool to find this still around on the net.

The only site i gave it to (and i actually wrote it up for them) was DarkLordsOfTheSith's Palvar Sector Campeign.

That said, you are free to use it, without any conditions other than keeping my name in it. :)

also, for visuals of the thing, as I came up with it, the inspiration for the entire ship was the snap in latch on the harness for my LBEs while i was at drill.

HellStormer1: "Wanted to say thanks to you, sir. Everyone working on the site is grateful for your support. It's a shame DLoS isn't around anymore. Also, could you show us a reference for that latch thing you mentioned as inspiration? I'm curious about it, and you never know when we might find someone who could take a crack at making a pic."

the cockpit is marked in large case Cs
similarly, the droid dock is marked in Ds.
AntiMatter Plant is marked with As, but on the bottom of the craft (its hardware preventing 2 more pods below the craft)

the quaklinked lasers are mounted on the side of the fuseledge of by the cockpit, two on a side.

The Quadlinked Ion cannons are mounthed on the pods interior side, basically right opposite the lasers. (you could probably climb into the craft using the lasers adn ion cannons as a climbing wall.

the interchangable weapons pods are the big squares in the rear. They are "designed" such that any weapons discharged are at a level above the craft, about level with the pilots head.

the sheild generators have satelite projectors in the pods on either side, but these are only usable in full power mode
all else, really, was pretty standard for Star Wars (West End Games version) Fighters, excepting:

instead of engines as most fighters have them, it uses an engine system more like a YT-1300, across the rear.

There are larger than normal thrusters at points around the hull, placed as normal, but rather outsized. They work acceptably with low power, and very well at high power.
