            The original progeny of the Primordials, The Dragon Kings were given dominion over mortals in the days before the Exalted. Spiritually immortal, they continue to reincarnate, though there are precious few Dragon Kings old enough in the Age of Sorrows to raise the young ones out of savagery into civilization and their own memories.

Lizard’s Past

Lizard carries the features of both his parents in about equal measure. He has his mother’s dark straight hair, but her father’s blue eyes. His skin has already started to harden, darken and has begun to take on a smooth marble like texture. He is relatively tall and stocky, which is fairly typical for an Anklok Dragon King.

There has been much speculation as to Lizard's parentage. After all, Lizard has many skills, so many, goes the thinking, that she has to be at least half god. And who more likely to father a warrior like Lizard than Ares, the God of War?

            Lizard's father of record is Atreus, her mother's husband (and most probably the father of Lizard's two brothers). He disappeared when Lizard was about seven years old; until the events told in THE FURIES, she believed that he had deserted the family. We now know that Atreus, a warrior of some note, had come home from Ares' temple in a rage, and had tried to kill Lizard. Lizard's mother killed him to save her daughter's life. These events are not as clear-cut as they may seem, however. What had Atreus learned from Ares to put him in such a blind rage? And why was he so determined to kill his young daughter?

            Also interesting is the fact that Atreus returned home suddenly on the night of Lizard's conception, only to mysteriously disappear soon afterward. It should be remembered that shape-shifting is a favorite trick of the gods—for example, Zeus took the shape of Alcmene's husband when he seduced her and conceived Hercules. It is highly possible that Ares took on the appearance of Atreus for the same purpose.
