The Onderon Storm Rider`s are elite War Beast riders recruited from the tribes of Onderon, they were easily recruited to the Empire due to the elitism that already existed within the tribes. This was simply twisted into a belief that the Empire would allow them to achieve their true destiny above the weaker animals of non-human species that occupy the galaxy. The Storm Riders wear distinctive red armour, that is heavier than normal Stormtrooper armour because the Storm Riders do not need to be agile, just as well armoured as the War Beasts they ride. Their main weapon is a Medium Repeating Blaster that is mounted onto the saddle of their War Beast, letting the Storm Rider use a heavier weapon than would normally be man-portable.
The Empire originally planned to use Storm Riders across the galaxy, as not only an elite squad of Stormtroopers, but also as an advertisement for the Imperial cause, and evidence of humans mastering beasts, and their natural advantages over non-humans.
