And onto reviewing the third episode, Star Wars: Visions: Season 2: Episode 3: In the Stars . My spoiler free review is that it's another art based story, but I enjoyed this one more than episode 1 of the season, even though there wasn't much story here and the conclusion didn't make a whole bunch of sense.

I agree with art playing a role in the backstory of the episode, but I don't know about it being and art-based story.

I don't know to what extent they're using computers and CGI to make these episodes. The first one of this season, with the way they moved the paint and those liquid globules - definitely CGI. Second one - No. This episode, unknown. But I can definitely say that I wouldn't call this episode animation, but claymation. Think of Wallace & Grommit and Chicken Run, but I associate claymation with the California Raisins commercials that were made in the 80's.. Anyway, I don't think in this case claymation is an effective way to make these episodes. Also, if those two are the last members of their people, it's a very sad ending.

I was just looking for a theme, as Art didn't really feature at all in the first season, so was wondering if instead of just letting everyone make their own thing this year, whether they'd been somewhat directed to focus on a particular theme within Star Wars. Having not watched the rest of the season yet, I could totally be wrong, just looking for patterns.

The varying art styles is definitely one of the strong points of Visions, the very first episode of season one was so different to what I expected from a Star Wars animation, it really shook my head and got me ready for something different. And it's amazing how the animation style can sell the tonal differences in stories as well.
