Keith Grady
was a cat burglar before he was recruited by Os and shown that he was an Element
of Metal.
If Os hadn't shown up when he did he would have had to kill someone to stop
going to prison.
He was trained by Os to try and
stop Slate and the other Shadowmen from getting their hands on the Tablet. The
Tablet was a page from the Book of Life, it has existed longer than anything on
Earth. If Slate could decipher it he would be able to open the Vortex, if that
happened the world would see the apocalypse.
Unfortunately for the latest
recruits, Os has killed the Element of Earth. This happened right before the
White Warrior was able to convert him to her cause.

Keith Grady may still be a thief, but he gives most of what he steals to
either the orphanage he grew up in or to other charities. The orphanage
would have closed now from lack of funding if Keith hadn't been making donations
to it. He enjoys the thrill and the challenge he gets when stealing.
