Star Wars: The Clone Wars: Season 3 Episode 18: The Citadel
What is it ? : Jedi Master Even Piell has been captured by the Separatists. The Jedi Council is keen to free him as he has knowledge of secret hyperspace routes, whih could give the Separatists an advantage. For this reason the Separatists are keeping Piell alive in an "impenetrable" prison called the Citadel.
Anakin and Obi-Wan are assigned to free him, and come up with a plan involving smuggling themselves and some Clone Troopers into the Citadel while frozen in carbonite. R2-D2 is put in charge of some reprogrammed Battle Droids to pilot the ship, and with no life signs showing to Separatist sensors, they slip through security and infiltrate the Citadel.
However, once unfrozen, they find Ahsoka who was forbidden to accompany them, has smuggled herself aboard.
Scaling a sheer cliff and avoiding the mines on it, they breach the base and fight their way through to Evan Piells cell and free him, however he reveals that he doesn't have the full routes, to avoid the danger of him being broken and handing over the routes, he gave half of them to his captain.
defeating a trap involving some Commando Droids, they free the Captain, who is revealed to be a younger Tarkin, and the remaining crew.
Splitting the group, much to Tarkins displeasure, the Jedi break though into the older Citadel tunnels to escape from the prison.
High Points : This episode is just the beginning of a story, so is difficult to judge on its merits, but was an enjoyable romp. With excellent action (the fight against the Commando Droids while booby traps keep disarming and electrocuting the heroes is fantastic), and the introduction of an original series character which is interesting. But apart from the aforementioned fight against the Commando Droids,there wasn't anything else I found too noteworthy.
Low Points : Again, the episode is difficult to judge as it is only part of the story, and there were no particular points I was disappointed with.
So what do you really think ? : A couple of points I must note however, firstly is Ahsokas disobedience to Anakins decision to leave her behind on this mission. We may find out more, and that something happened as she claims after they were already frozen in carbonite, but at the moment it looks as if she should be getting a serious talking to, she's essentially in the army at the moment, so should at least vaguely follow orders.
Also, the Citadel is mentioned to having been created by the Jedi to contain rogue Jedi, and having been taken over by Dooku and the Separatists. However there doesn't seem to be anything special about the prison, however as mentioned before this is only the first part of the story, so we'll see if this is brought into play later on.
Final Words : An enjoyable, fast paced and well scripted episode, I look forwards to seeing how the story plays out in the next parts.

Were the droids actually normal commando droids, or were they something different?
Also none of the droids said 'Roger, roger'
Also why did the magnets which grabbed the clones blasters and the jedi's lightsabres not grab the droids?

I hadn't thought about the Droids, I seem to remember them keeping a distance at first so being outside the effect area, but they're definitely close enough to be lightsabered once the field is off, so good point. What I did wonder about was why Anakins hand gets magnetised, but none of the contents of the Clone Troopers armour, utility belts or backpacks (full of thermal detonators) seem to be effected.
