Bantha Hotpot

A Recipe for: Bantha (Beast of Burden)

Ingredients:

  • 1 kg Bantha steaks (if unavailable substitute beef)
  • 4 Togrutan potatoes (if unavailable substitute regular potatoes)
  • 2 Rodian carrots (if unavailable substitute regular carrots)
  • 1 Zeltron onion (if unavailable substitute regular onion)
  • 2 cloves of Endorian garlic (if unavailable substitute regular garlic)
  • 1 cup Wookiee mushrooms (if unavailable substitute white button mushrooms)
  • 1/2 cup Huttese leeks (if unavailable substitute leeks)
  • 4 cups of Mandalorian beef broth (if unavailable substitute beef broth)
  • 1/2 cup of Alderaan white wine (if unavailable substitute white wine)
  • 2 tablespoons of Coruscant olive oil (if unavailable substitute olive oil)
  • 2 tablespoons of Mustafar red pepper paste (if unavailable substitute red pepper paste)
  • 2 teaspoons of Kashyyyk thyme (if unavailable substitute thyme)
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

Instructions:

  1. Start by preparing your Bantha steaks. Cut them into bite-sized pieces and season with salt, pepper, and one teaspoon of Kashyyyk thyme. Set them aside.
  2. Peel the Togrutan potatoes and cut them into rounds, about 1/4-inch thick.
  3. Wash and peel the Rodian carrots, then slice them into thin rounds.
  4. Finely chop the Zeltron onion and mince the Endorian garlic.
  5. Heat the Coruscant olive oil in a large, deep skillet or hotpot over medium heat. Add the chopped Zeltron onion and minced Endorian garlic. Sauté until they become translucent, which should take about 2-3 minutes.
  6. Add the Bantha steak pieces to the skillet and sear them on all sides until they develop a nice brown crust. This should take about 5 minutes.
  7. Stir in the Huttese leeks and Wookiee mushrooms. Sauté for another 3-4 minutes until the leeks and mushrooms are slightly softened.
  8. Pour in the Alderaan white wine and allow it to simmer for a couple of minutes to reduce slightly.
  9. Add the Rodian carrots and Togrutan potatoes to the skillet. Mix everything together.
  10. Pour in the Mandalorian beef broth, adding more Kashyyyk thyme and Mustafar red pepper paste. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  11. Cover the hotpot and let it simmer on low heat for about 45 minutes, or until the Bantha steaks are tender, and the vegetables are cooked to your liking.
  12. Serve the Bantha Hotpot in deep bowls, making sure each serving includes a mix of Bantha steak, potatoes, carrots, and mushrooms, along with plenty of the flavorful broth.
