Description: The MC30 line of frigates served the Mon Calamari and Alliance fleets admirably in the peak years of the Galactic Civil War. While the majority of the Calamari cruisers formed the backbone of the Rebel Navy, frigates and other smaller vessels constructed at the Mon Cal Shipyards were more evenly divided between serving the cause of the Alliance and protecting Dac from Imperial retaliation.
Soon after the Mon Calamari threw off the shackles of Imperial subjugation, older warship designs were looked at for possible production to defend Dac from future assault. A design team analyzed the original plans for the Recusant-class destroyer, stolen by Quarren Separatist sympathizers and used extensively by the Commerce Guild and Confederacy. With a wealth of battle data on the design, many of its flaws were addressed and the MC30 frigate was born.
The M30c variant served as an assault frigate in the Alliance Fleet. Its weapon payload used a mix of turbolasers and proton torpedoes to give it the ability to knock out larger enemy capital ships. Fast and relatively maneuverable, the M30c’s biggest weakness was its relatively light armor and minimal starfighter defense. While a very capable vessel in its own right, MC30c frigates were rarely deployed alone. They were often accompanying cruisers for protection from larger capital ships and escorted by corvettes to screen enemy starfighters.
