Tython was a terrestrial planet located in the galaxy's Deep Core, positioned at the coordinates L-10 on the Standard Galactic Grid. Known areas on its surface included the Meridional Ice Cap. Tython was home to a number of beasts.
History
Shrouded in myth, some Jedi scholars made the case that Tython was the location of the Jedi Order's first temple. The fabled planet was thought to have troves of holocrons and datacards filled with Jedi wisdom from throughout the ages, and if one were to discover it, they could gain access to unmatched power. The sacred Jedi texts contained a description of Tython's notable beasts.
During the Galactic Civil War, in her efforts to save her loved ones who were located at the Rebel Alliance's headquarters on Hoth, Doctor Chelli Lona Aphra brought Darth Vader and his Galactic Empire forces to Tython, distracting them from discovering the location of the rebel base. Aphra took Vader to the Martyrium of Frozen Tears in the Meridional Ice Cap on Tython, where the Empire was ambushed.
Around 9 ABY, the former Jedi Padawan Ahsoka Tano instructed the Mandalorian Din Djarin to take the Force-sensitive child, Grogu, to Tython. Djarin did so, traveling to Tython and placing Grogu on the seeing stone. Grogu entered a meditative state while perched on the stone. Meanwhile, the bounty hunter Boba Fett, along with his partner Fennec Shand, tracked Djarin to Tython, intent on reacquiring his armor. They were attacked by Moff Gideon's Imperial forces, and after a skirmish and the destruction of the Razor Crest, the child was ultimately abducted by dark troopers.
Tythonian pendants shared their name with the planet.
Locations
A Tythonian mountain was the site of an ancient temple that had a strong connection to the Force, though it had fallen into ruin by 9 ABY. At the top of the mountain was a seeing stone.
The Meridional Ice Cap contained the underground Martyrium of Frozen Tears, which had a Force-sensitive confessional made of solid kyberite. The ice cap was also dotted with ancient statues of robed figures near the Martyrium's entrance.
The seeing stone was on the top of a hill in a scrubland area.
Places of Interest
Martyrium of Frozen Tears
The Martyrium of Frozen Tears was a location in the Meridional Ice Cap on the planet Tython, said to hold a confessional made of solid kyberite. The scholar Korin Aphra attempted to track down its location, learning that it was in the Deep Core, but was unable to find it. Later, Korin's daughter Chelli Lona Aphra led Darth Vader to the Martyrium as a diversion to mislead him from the Rebel Alliance's main base on the Outer Rim planet Hoth.
Meridional Ice Cap
The Meridional Ice Cap was a cold region of the planet Tython. The Martyrium of Frozen Tears was located within the Meridional Ice Cap. After learning the location of the Rebel Alliance base on Hoth, Doctor Chelli Aphra instead led Darth Vader to the Meridional Ice Cap on Tython.
Unidentified temple
An ancient temple with a strong connection to the Force was located on top of a mountain on the planet Tython. By around the year 9 ABY, it had fallen into ruin and been reduced to a ring of six monoliths surrounding a seeing stone.
Seeing stone
A seeing stone was located at the ancient ruins of a temple on the planet Tython. The stone was dome-shaped, with runes written around the bottom. It was said that if a Force-sensitive being were to meditate on top of the stone, it would send a beacon out to any other nearby Force-sensitives.
In 9 ABY, on the forest planet of Corvus, after liberating Calodan and informing Din Djarin that she could not train the youngling Grogu, Ahsoka Tano directed Djarin to Tython, and told him to place Grogu on the seeing stone at the top of the mountain where the ruins of an ancient temple with a strong connection to the Force lay. When the pair made it to the stone, Grogu entered a meditation while sitting upon it while Djarin met Boba Fett and Fennec Shand, eventually becoming allies to combat stormtroopers from Gideon's Imperial remnant.
