Star Wars: Young Jedi Adventures: Season 1: Story 1: The Young Jedi

What is it ? : This is a 2023 animated Star Wars series, aimed at pre-schoolers. As such it's bit preachy, trying to instil values into it's viewers.
On Coruscant Yoda is sending some Jedi Younglings from the main Jedi Temple to smaller ones across the galaxy so they can learn more about the galaxy they live in. As the students are assigned, one of the Jedi Masters, Zia Zaldor Zanna, notices three are missing, and notes it's among the most troublesome students, Kai Brightstar, Lys Solay and Nubs.
We find them sparring with training drones, when they are informed they are to travel to Tenoo to the temple there and a ship is awaiting them. In the hangar they discover the pilot is also a child, Nash Durango with her droid RJ-83.
As they travel they discuss their various abilities, Lys is good with Animals, Kai is a bit brash and excitable but only because he is curious about everything, and Nubs likes to eat.
Arriving on Tenoo they discover that the marketplace is being robbed by Taborr Val Dorn and his gang, a droid called s EB-3 and a Gamorrean called Pord. They ignite their lightsabers and try to bring him to justice, but he causes chaos by throwing fruit and dislodging branches from the tree above the marketplace, so the Jedi have to protect everyone and he escapes. During this, Kai isn't strong enough in the Force to do it alone and must rely on his friends.
They contact Nash and she and RJ-83 distract Taborr until the Jedi can arrive, and together they use the Force to get the stolen goods back, and when Taborr threatens them, they are backed up by the townspeople who have rallied to the support of these young Jedi.
They travel onwards to the Jedi Temple, where they are met by Jedi Master Zia, and she invites them and their friend to explore the temple. . . .

High Points : It's fine for what it is, reaching a level of preachiness I haven't seen since He-man's speeches at the end of episodes of Masters of the Universe. The message of this one is all about working together.
Although it's a very childlike style, it's clearly Star Wars, and looks decent enough.

Low Points : The only Star Wars comparison I have for this series is the Droids Cartoon, which this is definitely a better production than. But it talks down to the viewers in a way that series never did. Remembering that my first viewing of the original movie was when I was perhaps only a year older than the target audience for this (I was 6), so was fully capable of enjoying something which didn't need to accommodate my age.

I also find the logic behind the series really quite odd. While the idea of Jedi Younglings being sent out to the smaller Jedi Temples across the galaxy so they can learn things not available in the massive temple on the city planet of Coruscant. The fact they're sent by themselves, rather than along with the Jedi Master who is going to exactly the same place at the same time. Seems like the Jedi have to learn the concept of chaperoning.

So what do you really think ? : It was fine, but I have to admit that there was a constant voice in the back of my head reminding me these kids probably all die at the hands of Clone Troopers during Order 66.

Final Words : If nothing else, this will be an excellent source for stats, as there's loads of new things in here we've never seen before.

Score : 7/10

First off, I believe this series takes place during the High Republic Era, so they're probably dead by the time of Order 66. Second, the cartoon design - it gives these characters a "bobble-head" appearance.

I only noticed the time period after posting that review, although the very white robes for the Jedi should have been a clue.
