What is it ? : The Young Jedi are aboard Nash Durangos racing boat, the Crimson Bolt, as she explains about the Kublop Classic, an annual race along the river. She tells them that a rival, Raena Zess, usually wins, but by cheating. They agree to help Nash in the race, but Master Zanna explains to them that using the Force would be cheating.
The race comes about, and during it they works together and avoid using the Force even though Zess uses boosters and other cheats to keep ahead.
By use of a daring maneuverer involving a geyser which blasts them into the air over Zess, they win.
Zess congratulates Nash on her win, and is especially impressed when she discovers the Jedi never used their powers, so didn't cheat. She explains that she only cheated as she thought that Nash was cheating as well, so looks forward to a rematch next year where she won't cheat and it will be a fair race.
High Points : While there's not a lot of storyline here, it's a quite nice little action adventure. The race is action packed, even if that does make it ridiculously dangerous for kids to be allowed to take part in it (involving a waterfall, geysers, etc).
But it's a watchable little episode.
Low Points : The cheats never win moral is forced down your throat a little, but it's nice to see them getting taught that basically using the force is cheating (something Qui-Gon obviously never learned).
So what do you really think ? : I enjoyed this one a lot, it was a bit preachy, but had some watchable action and was a fun little watch.
Final Words : Now this is the episode I'm surprised that the Right Wing isn't irate about. As it reveals that Nash Durango has two mums (and they're quite a cute little couple). I really expected to have heard about Ben Shapiro or the like complaining about Disney forcing woke Star Wars on our kids.
But, she's got two moms, they watch her win without cheating, and there's nothing more to it. There really is nothing to hate here (although that doesn't stop people).
