Star Wars: Young Jedi Adventures: Season 1: Story 4: The Lost Jedi Ship

What is it ? : The young Jedi are being shown the Library in the Jedi Temple on Tenoo where they are based, they are warned to be careful as it has only recently been reopened and is unstable with some sections crumbling. They discover a hidden room and find a Starship tracker, a device to locate your ship when you are separated from it along with other interesting finds.
This one is for the ship of an explorer from hundreds of years ago who brought artefacts back to the temple, and Jedi Master Zanna gives them permission to follow the tracker, as Master Yoda said they were to explore the region.
Setting off with Nash Durango aboard her ship they arrive at a planet surrounded by a massive asteroid field, which Nubs although scared blasts their way through.
Landing on the planet, they find it obscured by fog, but locate a droid who tells them it doesn't want visitors, before hiding in the fog. They use their force powers to clear the fog, revealing the Star Seeker, the ship they were looking for.
They discover that the droid, 0G-LC, is the pilot of the ship and the explorer they had been told about. He tells them that he arrived here but his ship was damaged by the asteroids and he had crashed. He long ago repaired the ship, but was too scared to face the asteroids again in case this time they destroyed him.
They tell him that Jedi feel fear too, but bravery is facing those fears, and this time he will have friends with him. They launch, and although 0G-LC is scared he follows Nash as she clears the way ahead, but two asteroids block the way and he fears that the same accident that trapped him here will happen again, but with encouragement from the Young Jedi he clears the asteroid field.
They return to Tenoo, where 0G-LC passed an artefact onto Master Zanaa, before wish the Force be with his young Jedi friends, telling them that he will be in touch through the Star Tracker, and he leaves to continue his mission. . . .

High Points : This is far from a terrible episode, and while it's obviously for a young audience, I could see this one converted into an almost Azimov like story of robots, because it's fear of destruction caused by it's previous experience in the surrounding asteroid field could be caused by Law 3 (self preservation), whereas it gets encouraged by the Young Jedi to leave, thereby needing to follow Law 2 (obey humans).

Low Points : I wasn't particularly impressed by the beginning, where the Library in the Jedi temple was in ruins and only recently had began being used once more.
If the Temple on Tenoo was always in use, why abandon the Library? Or if the temple had been out of use for a while, while leave a library full of knowledge and artefacts behind when they stopped using the temple?
I know it was just a set up for the kids to discover a hidden forgotten room, but wouldn't it be more mysterious to have them find a hidden room in a well maintained library, somewhere secure from ancient times in case the library was raided by sith?

So what do you really think ? : This was a good one, I honestly hope they bring back 0G-LC, as he makes for an interesting source of stories, someone who knows the area and history far better than the main characters, and can help them or feed them new adventures as the series continues.

Final Words : A fun little episodes, which is showing the potential this series could have. And while it has it's moral, "you don't need to be scared if you've got friends with you.", it doesn't hammer the point home to heavily and does allow 0G-LC to succeed based on his own skills, just with moral support from the other characters rather than have them carrying him.

Score : 8/10
