Star Wars: Young Jedi Adventures: Season 1: Story 26: Big Brothers Bounty

What is it ? : The Young Jedi are playing a game of darts in Haps Sap Tap, one which Nubs wins after throwing wildly and the dart rebounding around the shop until it hits the bullseye. A Dowutin barges in and demands that Hap tell them where a bounty hunter named Ansen Strung is, Hap says he doesn't know, but the Young Jedi tell the Dowutin that they are friends of Ansen and discover this person is his little sister, Senna.
Ansen has been missing, as he usually calls her every week, but has missed the latest calls, and she is looking for him. She is training to become a bounty hunter like her brother who she idolises. The Young Jedi agree to help her and she reveals that he mentioned he was working near Kublop Springs for a farmer named Weebo.
They go to see Weebo, who reveals that Ansen was looking for a lost Burowga, a large burrowing animal which had escaped to the far side of the forest. They take their speeder bikes, but must abandon them when the trees become too congested for them to continue, and as they reach the far side of the forest they hear a noise.
Following the noise they locate Ansen's speeder bike which seems to be abandoned and making a loud whining noise, so they go to examine it, only for a trap to be sprung trapping them in a cage.
Ansen emerges, revealing that the bike was to lure the Burowga in as they are attracted to noise, he frees them, revealing that he forgot about his weekly call, and had deactivated his comlink as the sound of it might distract from the noise of the lure. As they speak the noise attracts the lost Burowga, and they lure it into the cage and take it back to Weebo, where Ansen introduces Senna as one of the best up and coming bounty hunters. Something that surprises her as she's convinced she has made loads of mistakes, but the Jedi and Ansen point out that you have to make mistakes to learn from them and she's been learning. . . .

High Points : Again it's a straightforwards storyline, and while the message is all about learning, why Senna didn't go to Weebo rather than Hap, when she'd not been told anything about Hap, and had been told about Weebo I don't know.
The Burowga gets trapped because it's attracted to noise, and everything gets wrapped up nicely, there's not really any peril in this episode, but it's nice to see the family side of the Dowutin race as they're often just portrayed as strong and violent types.

Low Points : The Burowga creatures which are kept the Weebo, not as animals for meat, milk, eggs or fur, and kept because are Burrowers! is perhaps a punny Star Wars name too much for me.
And my biggest two questions are, if the forest is too congested for speeder bikes, then how did Ansen get his speeder bike there, and presumably back again.
And how do they move the absolutely massive cage back, when it's far larger than the speeder bike they've got as transport, which actually fits within the cage neatly?

So what do you really think ? : The message of this episode is the very nice concept of it's alright to make mistakes, as long as you learn from them. Something more people could take on board throughout their lives.

Final Words : While they've settled into a nice groove of making well done little episodes, there's nothing much to recommend here, I can't see them being compelling to kids, and there's nothing funnier or more exciting that a dozen of other shows. At this point I can't see any reason why they'd bother going on to a second season, unless they simply need to make a certain number of episodes for some reason.

Score : 8/10
