What is it ? : On At Attin the kids parents are talking to the authorities, who tell them that outside the barrier is outside their authority, so there's nothing which can be done for the kids.
Meanwhile the kids work with the "Jedi" in their cell to escape, he identifies himself as Jod Na Nawood, and they sneak through the pirate base and return to their ship. But the kids refuse to leave without the droid SM-33, so Jod returns to the pirate base to retrieve him.
One of the pirates spots him and identifies him as their old captain, they threaten to report him to the new captain, but somehow he escapes but is pursued.
Getting back aboard the ship, they are under fire, so Jod tries to pilot the ship away, but it is still hooked up to refuelling pipes, so swings around on the end of the cables. The thrusters pull other ships and stations connected out of position, but turbolasers lock onto them, so Jod jumps them to hyperspace, and as they break free, everything snaps back wrecking the pirate base, so the new pirate captain puts out a bounty on them.
Jod questions them where they're from, and when they tell him that they're from At Attin, he knows he doesn't know how to get there, but knows someone who might. He tells them to sleep, but they refuse, but soon fall asleep anyway.
Arriving at a moon, he lands the ship a distance away and they hike to a building, where the door droid identifies Jod as "Crimson Jack", we hear the person inside reporting him to the authorities, for perhaps kidnapping the children, and they say they'll delay him as long as possible.
Inside they meet a small owl-like alien with a borg construct in their head, and they reveal they're looking for At Attin. The alien, Kh'ymm, tells them that At Attin is one of the jewels of the Republic, hidden away before the Clone Wars to protect it.
They narrow down the location of At Attin from details like the systems it's nearby, and that it is protected by a gas cloud.
Jod realises that Kh'ymm is delaying, and switches on their comlink overhearing some X-Wing's from the New Republic arriving in orbit. So he grabs the data, and destroys the system so that Kh'ymm can't replicate the location of At Attin. As they flee, Kh'ymm tells the kids that if they need help, to contact her.
They rush back to the ship, but the kids want answers, and they get SM-33 to bar entry to the ship to Jod, unless he tells them who he is. He tells them he's like them, lost and alone, and he wants to help them get home, but wants to be rewarded for it.
They scramble into the sky, pursued by a pair of X-Wings, Jod shows Fern and Wed how to man the turrets, and they fire on the X-Wings as the ship rushes for the far side of the moon where it can jump to Hyperspace, which they manage.
The X-Wings land at Kh'ymm's place, and say they avoided damaging the ship to avoid harming the children, asking her where they've gone, to which she responds that if she told them, they wouldn't believe her.
High Points : And this episode is better again, while not reaching the heights of the first episode, things actually happen in this one, and it is far more enjoyable for it. And while the character he is playing is pretty dodgy, a former pirate captain who has been lying to the kids, the actors natural charisma is shining through and he's very likable for it.
And the ship, now identified as the Onyx Cinder, is pretty darn cool. Larger than the Millennium Falcon, it has some secrets to be discovered (as in what happened to the old crew and why it ended up on At Attin), but has multiple turrets, is manoeuvrable, and has so many pirate clichΓ©s to keep it interesting (the kids sleep in hammocks for example0>
Low Points : While Jod being the pirate captain was supposed to be a bit of a reveal, I found it all too obvious, as at the beginning of the first episode, the Pirate Captain was wearing a mask to keep his identity hidden.
And the strength of the refuelling hose, allowing their ship to pull others around seemed pretty remarkable and dangerous. Unless for some reason it's supposed to be used to restrain ships (perhaps to stop them leaving until they're paid for the fuel?).
SM-33 was gunned down last episode, but this episode to return him to operational function all that is needed is to turn him on?
And while not completely about this episode, the ship was buried on At Attin, and has roots and foliage growing through it. But wouldn't that have penetrated the hull? Shouldn't the ship be leaking if plants managed to grow through the hull?
So what do you really think ? : I enjoyed this episode, it was another fairly short one, but was a fun romp, with good dialogue, some story progression, with it feeding us enough information to keep us interested.
Final Words : So a line was dropped when they were fleeing the X-Wings about SM-33 having shut down the life support for repairs, so I'm guessing the next episode will involve them having to land somewhere to repair the ship, only for the Pirates (and/or New Republic) catching up with them.
