Description: The Solarity-E Ion Frigate is a vessel designed by Kuat Drive Yards and is part of the frigate family of vessels which also includes the Nebulon series of vessels. But whereas the Nebulon Frigates were designed to deal with the growing menace of Rebel Starfighters the Solarity series were developed to deal with Rebel planets hiding behind planetary sheilds, and to disable Rebel Capital ships so that their crews and navigation logs could be taken intact. Built in far smaller numbers than the Nebulon Frigates, the Solarity's are basically a smaller frigate chassis with a KDY Planet Defender Ion Cannon mounted onto the superstructure. The Solarity's lack any other weapons, with their entire power supply being required for the Ion Cannon, they therefore rely upon a support fleet and the starfighters they carry for protection. This vessel is known to be extremely dangerous, and is capable of disabling almost any capital ship short of a Super Star Destroyer with a single shot, making it a high priority target for enemy commanders in any fleet engagement.
