Description: While the Empire uses the Sentinel Class Shuttle for moving squad of Stormtroopers around, the Omikron Class Dropship was actually developed for transferring troops from vessels to planetary surfaces, however the vessels role does not end there. The ship has large cargo lifts and doors on its lower surface allowing it to deploy two AT-ST Scout Walkers, or a number of Speeder Bikes, dropping them off quickly and taking off once more within moments. The vessel can also act with a limited fire support role, using its fore and rear twin torpedo launchers, destroying walkers and installations with relative ease, although the vessel should never be mistaken for a pure ground support gunship. Because of the large weight the vessel carries in front of its aerofoil surfaces, the engine systems are overly large, but the backup redundancy built into these drives makes them low maintanence and extremely reliable. Although the Omikron has proven itself, and has a valuable role within the Imperial fleet, it has not been purchased in large numbers, the Empire preferring to rely on its Sentinel Shuttles and AT-ST Dropships to fulfill the same role as the Omikron, menaing that these vessels are fairly uncommon, serving mainly on backwater worlds where their dual function makes them more valued than in the front line of battle.
