Description: The X-1 Experimental is a testbed for a number of experimental technologies including a New Republic cloaking device, making this an extremely expensive and rare design. It has powerful engines and manuevering thrusters, as well as being well armed with 4 laser cannons, and ion cannon turret manned by the ships gunner, and three proton torpedo launchers. The vessel is still very much undergoing tests, with its weapons designed for easy access and replacement with different weapon loads, and the vessel lacking a hyperdrive. However the X-1 is a powerful design which has been pressed into service, acting as a cloaked bomber for the New Republic replacing older Y-Wing fighters although only available in small numbers supposedly issued for active testing. With the design being still unfinished these vessels require a lot of maintenance to keep operational, something that will hopefully be ironed out by the time the X-1 goes into full production.
