Description: Most prototype starfighters are never seen in large numbers, but the Y-Wing eXperimental 1 is an exception to this rule, and led to the later limited release of the X3 version. At the time of the development of the Y-Wing, Koensayr was a company with major financial worries, which led to the ease with which pirate manufacturing plants managed to bribe Koensayr staff for the blueprints to the X1 version of their new fighter. This they then built and manufactured in large numbers, which in reality helped the sales of the final version of the Y-Wing as people could see the effectiveness of the ship in combat already. The X1 has a number of features in common with the later models, but has only fixed forward firing weapons, although control of these is still handled by a gunner. The vessel is seen in small numbers to this day, and is heavily outdated, but pirate and other outlaw groups have to make do with what equipment they can get, but even compared to other Y-Wing models, the X1 is primative and performs poorly.

I remember seeing something like this on the cover(s) of some D6 books...thought it looked cool.
