Well, I ain't been updating the site lately because (like many around the world) my job looks set to evaporate, so I've been throwing my efforts into getting another job. I've got an interview later this week, and a couple of other jobs I'm waiting to hear back about, but if anyone knows of jobs for PHP developers going, then let me know.
Anyway, lots to get through today, firstly, Alex Panzerkit has been back in touch and sent me through some more of his great work, which I've added. Assan Aeroplane Company Scrapper Light Rapidfire Slugthrower and Assan Bear Essentials Survival Kit both added to the Star Wars D/6 Equipment section, great work Alex, much appreciated.
Secondly, Hellstormer has continued to absolutely astound me with the quality of the work he keeps submitting to the site, his conversions from RoboTech and Macross, and absolutely brilliant, so I've added. U.N. Forces Northrop Grumman/Stonewell/Shinsei Variable Fighter, U.N. Forces Northrop Grumman/Stonewell/Shinsei QF-2200A Ghost Unmanned Fighter, U.N. Forces Northrop Grumman/Stonewell/Shinsei VF-0A Phoenix, U.N. Forces Northrop Grumman/Stonewell/Shinsei VF-0D Phoenix, Howard GPU-9 35mm Gun Pod, Raytheon Bifors AIM-200A AMRAAM 2 I/ALH-guided medium-range air-to-air missiles, GH-28A 8-tube general-purpose micro missile launchers, HAIM-95A medium-range maneuverability missile launcher pods, U.N. Forces Northrop Grumman/Stonewell/Shinsei VF-0S Phoenix and U.N. Forces Northrop Grumman/Stonewell/Shinsei VF-0S Phoenix Reactive Armor, all added to the Star Wars D/6 Starships Section.
Also Hellstormer has proven not only can he produce amazingly good stats, but he's also an all round nice guy, by providing stats to a request that I received, THE PROGENITOR OF MANAAN which I've added to the Star Wars D/6 characters section, about which he said the following. . .
I have heard about the story behind it, and have watched people play it time and again, but never found the time to sit down and do so myself. The story I thought was awsome, at least any time I found any information on it. The idea of discovering what existed before the Great Republic and how dark and dangerous it was, and how it plays into the quest of your character, along with that character's own personal story, that of the other characters who join as they go, and the places and ancient devices you discover on the journey. It's all so amazing!
The Star Forge and the Star Maps alone caught my attention, devices that were powered by the Dark Side itself and still function millenia after the fall of the Infinite Empire that spawned them.
But then there are the smaller details along that journey, like the stop on the planet Manaan and dealing with the Progenitor and the Firaxan Sharks and Selkath. This piece of the story, sadly, I have no knowledge of beyond what i could find on the interwub.
Because of this, I do not know very much on how the Firaxan Sharks or the Progenitor itself act in a fight, what their combat abilities are, and what-not. I send this entry in knowing that it may not be complete, but hoping others will come across it and help fill in the gaps....preferably with helpful comments!!!
If I ever find the time to sit down and play the game, I will assuredly do so, and really want to some day. When i do, I'm sure i will get to thinking on this write-up, and send in an update with more details. Until then, let the good times roll!
Finally, I'd like to reply to a couple of comments added to the current editorial, which I thought were worth of front page mention.
Firstly. . . Frank said
A comment that really made me think of the sadness of the NPC, hanging around waiting for the man or woman of their dreams, waiting for their kids to grow up, or even dreaming of the sunkissed beach where they're going to spend their next holiday . . . when all of a sudden the players troop up and butcher them because they were in the way. :)
Secondly, Pholus added this wonderful comment . . .
According to page 38 of the first edition of the Imperial Sourcebook you're looking at in a standard belt:
1) "Specialized Survival Equipment"
2) Concentrated rations
3) Emergency power cells
4) Spare comlink
They give other items for the various types of stormtroopers as well. Among the interesting items are:
High-tension wire, grappling hooks, ion flares, "survival kit", concussion grenades, blaster packs.
Sadly, I spent some time about 10 years ago really trying to fill out the contents of those little boxes with "realistic" content:
Spare comlink, 0.5 sq meters of cloth and blaster cleaning tools.
2 spare blaster packs
2 days rations
Grapnel, 30 m syntherope on a spool
flare, fire starter, hook and wire, compass, 4 fuel tabs
Medpack (only adequate on a 1-3 on d6 if used)
Canteen, vacuum capable seals
Although I own the first edition Imperial Sourcebook, it's been in a box at my mums house, ever since I moved house 5 years ago, and I don't own the second edition one, so totally missed that list. That's brilliant, and many many thanks for bringing it to my attention (and hopefully I've provided a service by bringing it onto the front page to others attention as well).
Well, that's it, I'll try to update soon, but making sure food is kept on the table is my number one priority (man does not live on bread alone, but it makes a darn good start), so updates may be irregular. But please rest assured, I'm not going away, and I'll try to keep the site updated as regularly as my schedule permits.
