Description: 2B0T, nicknamed Two-Boots, was a Tactical Defense Droid who was active as part of the Tactical Defense Force on the planet Janix during the Imperial Era.
Biography
An unsuccessful mission
2B0T, also known as Two-Boots, was a Tactical Defense Droid in service to Captain Brander Lawson's squad under the Janix Civil Defense's Tactical Defense Force in Janix city on the planet Janix. No earlier than 19 BBY, Two-Boots and his partner Captain Brander Lawson took on a job dealing with a creature-smuggling scheme operating out of a cantina. The droid was commanded by Lawson via comlink to hold back until he was called upon by the captain. Two-Boots protested, but Lawson's order remained firm as he dispatched the cantina's guard droid and entered the building. Lawson interacted with a Dowutin bartender running the cantina. Lawson and Dowutin spoke as the captain ordered a Corellian whiskey and Two-Boots once again asked if he was needed yet, to which Lawson denied.
After Lawson realized the alcohol was in reality the venom of a Wasber, the Dowutin—knowing Lawson's identity—attacked the captain. Two-Boots' assistance was then requested by Lawson several times while the bartender disarmed and raised their weapon to the captain. Before they could swing it down, Two-Boots entered the cantina and shot the Dowutin in the back shoulder with a blaster pistol. Two-Boots attempted to issue an arrest against the bartender for attempted murder and smuggling of illegal creatures, but before he could finish, the bartender hurled their weapon at one of the creature enclosures, releasing a large beast that attacked the droid.
Two-Boots suggested calling for reinforcements before being grabbed by the Dowutin. He then informed Lawson that his scanners had picked up on the captain's body temperature quickly rising and recommended getting him to a medcenter for antivenom. The bartender then swung at Two-Boots and the droid used their momentum to launch them over the bar counter while he dealt with the creature threat. A large spider-like creature then attacked Two-Boots from behind and entangled him in its webs. Lawson, barely conscious, raised his blaster and shot Two-Boots' attacker before blacking out. Backup eventually came and rescued the duo.
The shadow
At some point between 17 BBY and around 13 BBY, after a raid on a bank tower, Two-Boots and Lawson investigated the crime scene. Regarding the destruction of several droids as tragic, Two-Boots noted the absence of a bank supervisor droid. When Reb wondered who would target the bank's owner, gangster Nico Deemis, Two-Boots proposed the involvement of Deemis' rival, Looti Vario. Lawson dismissed the idea as an open declaration of war.
Inspecting the memory banks of a destroyed police droid, Two-Boots found footage of the assailant. When Lawson ordered a recognition scan, Two-Boots discovered that the individual in question was wanted by the Galactic Empire and his file is classified by the ISB. Two-Boots informed Lawson that protocol dictated that they immediately report any sightings of the individual, but Lawson refused, not wanting to involve the Empire in a local matter. Later that night, Two-Boots brought Lawson caf. Simultaneously, a situation occurred at a port, and Two-Boots and Lawson rushed to intervene, arriving in a police speeder. Under fire, the pair took cover, only for their attackers to escape as reinforcements arrived.
Two-Boots imprisoned Vario, assuring the Aleena that the cell would suit his needs. Lawson identified the assassins as Zabrak, the same species as the attacker from the destroyed droid's memory banks. Two-Boots suggested involving the Empire, but Lawson still disagreed. Noting the contradiction to protocol, Two-Boots agreed to oblige Lawson's request. Lawson told Two-Boots to watch Vario and keep the station on alert. Soon after, the droid Spybot overrode the station's systems. Detecting interference, Two-Boots reported the disturbance. Lawson brought Two-Boots with him to protect Vario. Observing them through security cameras, Spybot separated the pair. Lawson ordered Two-Boots to restore the system and re-open the doors. When Two-Boots began to tamper with a nearby panel, Spybot shocked him remotely. Succeeding in bringing the system online, Two-Boots separated from Lawson on his order to retrieve backup.
That night, Lawson observes his computer at his desk when Two-Boots comes with two cups of cafs. Lawson jokes about drinking caf but Two-Boots reminds him he just shares this moment with him, before hearing an incident in the port as police droids rush to respond, which was caused by both Deemis and Vario fighting on neutral territory.
As the two speeders; one belonging to Vario and another was a large landspeeder, a modified bank transport, with Maul's crew, headed northbound, members of the Tactical Defense Force arrived at the warehouse to deal with the situation, Two-Boots picked up on scans of the two speeders leaving the area, and informed Lawson of it before a police dispatcher requested Z-59 for backup.
Arriving, Lawson and Two-Boots arrive as Vario was cornered by a large bank transport and a Zabrak approaching him, Lawson manage to shoot the large Zabrak from his Tactical Defense Force cruiser, shot Scorn's blaster pistol out of his hand. The attacker was Scorn, whom Vario recognized worked for his former boss. Lawson and Two-Boots drive their Tactical Defense Force cruiser between Vario and the rest Maul's crew, aiming their weapons at the crew and demand for them to surrender, with Two-Boots being in the front with the door open. However, Icarus revealed himself from the cover of the bank transport and opened fire on the police with his chaingun, forcing both into cover, with Two-Boots going in the back with Lawson and Vario who told Lawson as he never thought he'd be happy to see him, to which Lawson stated that there was a first time for everything. As police reinforcements began to arrive, Icarus ceased firing his chaingun, causing Two-Boots and Lawson to raise their blasters and reveal themselves once again but as they looked up they found both the large landspeeder and Mauls crew gone.
After the skirmish, Vario was taken into custody and told Lawson about the Shadow Collective. Following the conversation, Vario was brought to a prison cell at the headquarters, positioned across from the cell in which Izara was being held in. Vario asks the Twi'lek what she is looking at and complains about his spartan cell, which Two-Boots replies that the cell is adequate to his needs before closing the doors. After Two-Boots tells Lawson that he has been unable to identify the two Zabraks, which Lawson notes both have different markings from the hooded one captured in the holo footage, which Two-Boots suggests alerting the Empire, Lawson disagrees and orders Two-Boots to keep an eye on Vario.
Later Two-Boots informs Lawson that they are getting a lot of interference, which a police droid previously informs Lawson that Level 8 appears to have several technical malfunctions. Searching for the cause, Two-Boots found that something is overriding their systems as they appear to be losing control of the station. As the lights dim, Lawson orders the troopers to protect the station while Two-Boots and several police droid go with Lawson to the detention block to protect Vario. Once at the cell block, Lawson has the police droids to lockdown the cell block. While running down the halls, Two-Boots notices one of the cameras acting strange, which was cause by Maul's droid Spybot. Spybot activates the doors, separating Two-Boots and Lawson. Lawson contacts Two-Boots from his comlink and orders him to get the systems back online to get the doors open, which Two-Boots begins by taking the control panel and connecting it to his datapad. Spybot notices Two-Boots and shocks him, which briefly stops the police droid, but eventually Two-Boots manages to regain control of the system, preventing Spybot from interfering and opening the doors, much to Spybot's anger. Two-Boots informs Lawson that the system is back online but there is heavy damage and comms are still down. Lawson tells Two-Boots to call for backup, which the droid leaves to contact for more forces. Despite the police best efforts Maul and his minions manage to get to Vario and also get to Devon Izara.
As the attacking mercenaries escaped, Lawson and Two-Boots pursued them. Two-Boots commandeered a Trash barge transport, apologizing for the stench. Using the Force, Maul endangered a bridge of civilians, orchestrating the criminals' getaway. The next morning, Lawson and Two-Boots wondered about the motivation behind the abduction of Devon Izara, taken from Janix custody. After gaining more intel, the droid contacted Lawson from his apartment home and informed him that members of Vario's syndicate were being questioned but uncooperative. Unable to find data on the Shadow Collective, a criminal organization mentioned by Vario, Two-Boots suggested that he was lying, but Lawson believed that the frightened Aleena was telling the truth—a first, according to Two-Boots. When Lawson ordered him to continue looking into it, Two-Boots again brought up contacting the Empire, but the captain had another play.
As Lawson went to one of his informants Rheena Sul, who told him about Maul and his Shadow Collective, Two-Boots powered down to recharge.
After recharging, Two-Boots found Lawson at the evidence board where he sees that the captain manage to gather some new information while he was having a rewarding power down. Two-Boots hoped Lawson didn't used one of his "deviant" connections but Lawson dismissed it and tells Two-Boots that their target is a syndicate leader known as Maul, who associated with several criminal organizations, including these with images of the Black Sun and Pyke Syndicate. Two-Boots looks at the data and sees that Vario's smuggling network has deals with the Pyke Syndicate. Lawson tells Two-Boots that they are compiling all locations along the routes and comb known drop points for any of the smugglers. Once they find the smugglers, they need to bring them in for questioning, which Two-Boots was skeptical that they will lead them to Maul or the location where he is holding Vario but despite it being a mundane assessment with little chance of a lead, it is worth examining. Lawson decides to search the local Janix Spaceport, which Two-Boots reminds him of Rylee's match, which is today and the captain forgot due to recent events. Seeing his friend stress, Two-Boots reassures Lawson he will investigate the spaceports on his behalf, and due to being a droid he is rested and enjoy repetitive, potentially thankless tasks. As Lawsone leaves, Two-Boots tells the captain he will update him they locate any of Vario's associates.
Two-Boots took officer Reb with him to a warehouse, where they picked up that a Pyke cruiser arrived in the morning. At a warehouse, Two-Boots and Reb spot four Pyke enforcers interrogating two of Vario's smugglers about the stolen payments and killed Pyke crew. Two-Boots and Reb spread out, as the smugglers tell the Pykes that it wasn't them and Vario is in police custody. The two reveal themselves after the Pykes kill one of the smugglers to send a message from Marg Krim. A firefight breaks out and ended with Reb killing one Pyke, while Two-Boots tackles another one and shoots another Pyke, forcing the last Pyke and a smuggler to surrender. Two-Boots tells the tackled Pyke that they are all being detained for questioning, discarding the Pyke's CC-420 pistol, and Reb calls for backup. Two-Boots demands for the smuggler to open one of the crates, slowly. Opening the crate reveals some glowing material, but from above Rook Kast fired a rocket at the crate, which scattering the group and her forces killed the remaining Pykes and smuggler. Despite the open fire, Two-Boots and Reb manage to get out in time, but Reb was injured and orders Two-Boots not to let the attackers escape. Spotting five attackers, Two-Boots chases them but a Mandalorian super commando opens fire which forces Two-Boots to take cover. He manage to get to the upstairs deck by shooting a cable, which pulls him up. Landing on the platform, he orders the attackers to stop Kast fires a second rocket from her rocket launcher, with Scorn using his chaingun and another Mandalorian providing cover fire allowing the group to escape in a bank transport, despite Two-Boots catching up with them.
After Lawson arrives, Two-Boots gets into his police speeder and tells the captain that he was almost destroyed and officer Reb is injured, but he was correct that the Shadow Collective is targeting the Pykes but to what end, he doesn't know. Two-Boots tells the captain that he tracked their bank transport heading to Sector 17-K. As the two leave to the sector, Lawson has Wade sweep Sector 17 to Sector 24. Reading his results from his datapad, Two-Boots tells the captain that due to the recent escalation, it is imperative the police force alerts the Empire, but Lawson refuses despite Two-Boots telling him that situations of this magnitude that warranted the attention of the Republic since they would dispatch a Jedi Knight to assist, which Lawson counters since the Empire is not like the Republic. Two-Boots qustions if his assertion has a rational basis or personal, since his former wife works for the Empire, which Lawson tells him if the Empire comes in, they'll take over and ruin lives. Two-Boots says it might be better since they are ill-equipped to handle Maul, but Lawson orders him to drop it which Two-Boots apologizes for supersede his authority.
At headquarters, Two-Boots attempt to pursue Chief Klyce to call the Empire for urgent Imperial reinforcement, but she refused and sent him to desk duty. Klyce later found Lawson and informed him of Two-Boots' actions, which Lawson defends his droid partner's actions since he is under a lot of stress, which Klyce agrees with since the situation is getting out of their hand and might as well turn the planet over the Empire since it is safer than having a madman run in their city, but Lawson assures her that they have patrols searching for Maul. As Lawson heads to his desk, Two-Boots sits across from him, where he rearranges tapes and covers a picture showing him and Lawson standing together.
Characteristics
A Tactical Defense Droid, Two-Boots stood at 1.9 meters and had blue, gray, and yellow plating a symbol of the Tactical Defense Force on his forehead. His programming drove him to always follow the rules as such, he was incredibly loyal to his partner Captain Lawson.
As the case escalated to involve the criminal leaders Looti Vario and Nico Deemis, Two-Boots continued to recommend that they report the activity to the Empire. However, when Lawson maintained his stance, Two-Boots told him that they would listen to the Captain despite the Imperial protocol.
Equipment
Two-Boots wore a pair of yellow boots and carried a blaster pistol, standard among the police officers and droids on Janix, that fired red lasers and stun rounds. While investigating the bank raid, he carried a datapad and a handheld comlink that was police-issued which turned off when he turned against the Empire.
