Little known fact, that little shuttle seen there on-screen, what few scraps I could find on it imply it's the cockpit of the Resistance Troop Transport from The Force Awakens. As this was supposed to be the cockpit from a B-Wing Mk-2, this makes me wonder if the cockpits were modified to be modular and self-flying for theResistance, or if the were modular from the beginning as B-Wing Mk-2s.

According to the Visual Dictionary
"Rose's shuttle is the modified control pod of a Resistance shuttle, which began life as a B-Wing Mark II cockpit."

"The vessel is the smallest hyperspace-enabled ship capable of reaching Cantonica"

"It's small size and Rose's skill at keeping engine flux below sensor thresholds mean that Rose and Finn can depart the fleet without being detected."

Given that the cockpit from B-Wing's has now been that shuttle, the Resistance Transport, and the Speeders used on Crait, what it makes me wonder is how many B-Wings did the Alliance have? Because we haven't seen X-Wing's, Y-Wing's or A-Wings butchered for parts for other ships. Maybe B-Wings were recalled from service for some kind of fault and ended up being used for parts?

The ski speeders on Crait, I've found conflicting info on that. The first bit of info I found said they were made from B-Wings too, but later info says they were made by Roche Machines, a Verpine company, like they were designed that way from the start.

I wonder why the info isn't straight when a big film like this comes out. I've seen stuff like this happen before. Sometimes, one origin story or the other wins out and becomes canon, and other times two different stories get combined in some way to become the accepted origin story. Sometimes, IMO, that works out pretty great. Other times, not so much. Depend son the franchise.

If they had an abundance of B-Wing parts left after fighting the Empire, I think it'd be cool to use them for other vehicles and ships. Especially since the B-Wing was supposed to be so difficult to fly.
