Description: Mogu were a predatory and carnivorous mammalian species that resided on the planet Koboh. Typically highly violent predators, mogu preferred to stalk prey, then aggressively attack them. Creatures visibly akin to the mogu could be found on planets of varying climates, such as the wampa, a species native to Hoth. The two species were closely related, considered to be cousins.
Biology and appearance
A towering, bipedal species covered in shaggy hair, mogu were highly aggressive predators native to the Outer Rim world of Koboh. Similar in both appearance and behavior to the wampa of Hoth, the species' cousin, mogu possessed immense strength and razor-sharp claws. Their thick fur served as excellent camouflage in the forests of Koboh, and mogu preferred to use it in order to stalk their prey before violently attacking them.
Their physical strength allowed mogu to lift and slam their prey into the ground in order to incapacitate them, though they also used their claws when attacking prey. Like wampas, the creatures generally chose to drag incapacitated prey back to their dens—often a cave—where the prey could be preserved and later eaten at their leisure.
History
Mogu were native to the planet Koboh. Prior to 9 BBY, a mogu fell victim to the deadly swamp known as the Viscid Bog. Unlike most creatures, however, this individual survived, and became known as the Mire Terror, a beast that slaughtered many unfortunate prospectors.
During 9 BBY, the Jedi Knight Cal Kestis encountered several mogu during his time on Koboh as part of his journey to reach the planet Tanalorr.
During a trek through the Viscid Bog, Kestis encountered and killed the Mire Terror, bringing an end to its reign of fear over Koboh's swamps.
