Din Djarin, Din Grogu, and Garazeb Orrelios visited the planet in search of Rotta the Hutt, during which time they conversed with the Ardennian fry cook Hugo Durant at the cook's food pod.
Places of Interest
Daiyu City
Daiyu City was a city located on the planet Daiyu during the Imperial Era. In 9 BBY, Third Sister of the Inquisitorius devised a plan to lure Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi out of hiding by learning of his relationship with Senator Bail Organa. The Third Sister had Vect Nokru and his gang kidnap Organa's daughter Leia. Kenobi traveled in Daiyu in order to rescue Leia.
The Den
The Den was a shady business in Daiyu City on the planet Daiyu, which contained a spice laboratory and a place for playing sabacc. A purple sign on the building, written in Aurebesh, stated the name of the business, with the word "spice" on one side, while a red sign over a door read "sabacc," emblazoned with playing cards cards at the bottom. A similar, blue sign could be seen on the street. A sign on the roof of the building read "spice," as did a street sign.
Another The Den was located on the moon Shakari and featured the same sign stating the business' name paired with the word "spice" displayed on one side, but in orange rather than purple.
History
While searching for a kidnapped Princess Leia Organa in Daiyu City, Obi-Wan Kenobi asked Haja Estree for directions to "the sewers." Estree told him where to go but warned Kenobi that he believed he would never get in. Kenobi arrived at The Den, and noticed a worker wearing a lab coat, exiting a door with a sign saying "sabacc." Disguising himself as one of the workers, Kenobi snuck into the premises and entered a makeshift spice laboratory, where he caused a glass tank to explode, creating a distraction that allowed him to slip through a door. He was confronted by two guards, a Zabrak and human worker, who queried about his presence. Kenobi fought the pair, who put up a fierce fight, but managed to subdue them and forced the Human guard to reveal where Leia was being held.
Kenobi found a cell with a hooded figure whom he believed to be Princess Leia. However, it turned out to be a derelict droid serving as a decoy, and Kenobi was captured by Vect Nokru's associates, Vidara Jurness and Ayo Bons, who restrained him. Nokru mocked Kenobi for risking everything for a "little brat" and believed that he and his associates would get rich from Kenobi's capture when they handed him over to the Third Sister. Kenobi demanded to know Leia's whereabouts but Nokru dismissed him as a mere man who bleeds. Kenobi replied that "everybody bleeds," before dropping a vial of red spice that blinded the mercenaries. Kenobi took the opportunity to escape and locked the kidnappers in their own cell.
Kenobi then found Leia and lead her out of the sewers into the streets of Daiyu, through the same door that he entered earlier. Meanwhile, Nokru and his associates struggled with the effects of the spice as the Third Sister showed up and angrily demanded to know Kenobi's whereabouts.
During a mission to rescue Rotta the Hutt on the moon Shakari, Din Djarin strolled by the local The Den.
Hugo's
Hugo's was a fry cook food truck operated by an Ardennian fry cook Hugo Durant on Shakari during the New Republic Era. It served several variations of flat meat fry, advertising them as best sellers. One night, as Hugo's four-armed fry cook was preparing a grilled sandwich, the Mandalorian bounty hunter Din Djarin approached along with his adoptive son Din Grogu, seeking information. The value of the single silver New Republic Credit Djarin placed atop the counter excited the Ardeniann vendor, but when the bounty hunter clarifed it was a Hutt's location he was seeking, Hugo nervously yet cheerily announced that the stall was now closed for the night, and promptly shuttered the establishment.
The sign atop the food truck read in Aurebesh: "HUGO's" on the left and "BEST SELLER" on the right. The menu in the middle read:
"NO 1 FLAT MEAT FRY"
"NO 2 FLAT MEAT FRY WITH SLIDE"
"NO 3 FLAT MEAT FRY WITH SLIDE AND OROSOS"
The Pits (arena)
The Pits was a gladiator fighting arena on the moon of Shakari where combatants tested their martial capabilities against brutal beasts, to the satisfaction of the bloodthirsty spectators.
Salt Bar
The Salt Bar was a cantina on the moon of Shakari under Korvin Station. Although it appeared to serve alcoholic beverages, it was primarily used for the distribution of salt, which was in short supply on the moon and was carefully rationed. Fittingly, the sign above the entrance, written in Aurebesh, read "SALT". The cantina was operated by Janu Coin, who housed numerous small creatures, including a fuzzball, in cages within the establishment.
Janu Coin's estate
Imperial Remnant Commander and crime lord Janu Coin had an estate on an island on the moon Shakari from which he operated his Stormtrooper forces. Commander Coin stationed a legion of Stormtroopers in his estate, as well as housing several landspeeders, and starfighters for defense.
At some point during his career as a gladiator, Rotta the Hutt celebrated a major victory at Coin's estate, coming to learn of Coin's Imperial ties. Later, after surviving Coin's attempt to kill him in the Pits, Rotta informed the Mandalorian bounty hunter Din Djarin of Coin's identity. Rotta then helped Din and New Republic officer Garazeb Orrelios infiltrate Coin's estate, eventually apprehending the crime lord to bring to New Republic custody.
