Description: Janu Coin was a human warlord who led a remnant of the Galactic Empire and carried out hit-and-run attacks on hyperspace routes by 9 ABY. He held the rank of commander and was a part of the Shadow Council, a group of Imperial officers who secretly coordinated their various remnant factions against the New Republic in the aftermath of the Galactic Civil War. Leading his remnant from his estate on the moon of Shakari, Coin heavily influenced the world by posing as a local crime lord known as "Lord Janu".
That year, the commander attended a meeting of the council via hologram, in the process briefly arguing with Captain Gilad Pellaeon. Coin later ran into the Mandalorian Din Djarin and his apprentice, Din Grogu, on Shakari some years later.
Biography
Commander Janu Coin was an Imperial officer of the Galactic Empire who escaped the Imperial Era and the collapse of the government without his face being known to the general public. During the New Republic Era, he was considered a war criminal by the New Republic, which was eager to locate and imprison Coin.
Lord Janu Coin was a warlord of one of the remnants of the Galactic Empire in 9 ABY. Holding the rank of commander, Janu was a part of the Shadow Council, a group of Imperial officers who secretly cooperated during the era of the New Republic and each furthered Imperial interests within a specific sector of the galaxy. Janu specifically carried out hit-and-run attacks on hyperspace routes with the aim of acquiring valuable loot.
In 9 ABY, Janu was attending via hologram a meeting of the Shadow Council. During the meeting, he expressed his disagreement with Captain Gilad Pellaeon, who urged the members of the council to be discreet about revealing to the New Republic the true strength of their forces. In response to the Janu's remark, Pellaeon noted that the attacks the former was carrying was attracting too much notice.
Later during the meeting, Janu attentively observed the arguing between Pellaeon, Commandant Brendol Hux, and Moff Gideon over the allotment of Imperial resources. Janu and two others also agreed with Gideon's claim that, unlike the Imperial factions represented by Pellaeon and Hux, the other members of the Shadow Council restricted their undertakings to reporting on the events that transpired within their respective sectors. When Gideon subsequently described a plan to exterminate the remaining members of the Mandalorian warrior culture and shouted a hail to the continued longevity of the Empire, the other Imperial officers present in the meeting echoed the hail.
Sometime after the death of fellow council member Moff Gideon during the Liberation of Mandalore, Lord Janu sat in the stands of an arena beside a caged Din Grogu, the adoptive son of Mandalorian bounty hunter Din Djarin, who had been tasked by New Republic Colonel Ward with hunting down Hutt gangsters, and Imperial Remnant war criminals like the Janu himself. To his other side sat the Iktotchi Hogsbreth.
Personality and traits
Janu Coin was a bald, light-skinned human male. He was well-spoken and demonstrated courtesy to Din Djarin. However, he was very self-centered, and was more concerned with his own profit than furthering the neo-Imperial cause.
Equipment
Janu Coin wore an unadorned black Imperial officer's uniform with a belt and a pair of black gloves and boots whilst attending a Shadow Council meeting via hologram in 9 ABY. Several years later, he wore a red shirt beneath a grey suit jacket, in order keep his alter persona as Lord Janu.
