Description: Chandrila was a planet in the Core Worlds of the galaxy. The female human Mon Mothma hailed from Chandrila, and represented her homeworld in the Senate of the Galactic Republic and the Galactic Empire. It was also the homeworld and birthplace of Ben Solo.
Chandrila was one of the planets targeted for destruction by Emperor Sheev Palpatine's second Death Star, who planned to use the station's planet-shattering superweapon to end the Rebellion through sheer terror.

Following the Battle of Endor in 4 ABY, Chandrila became the capital of the New Republic and the seat of the newly formed Galactic Senate as a tribute to the Republic of old. It was not permanent, however, as the Republic chose to rotate its capital world based on elections.

Description
Chandrila was a small blue-green planet with calm seas and rolling hills. It had mild seasonal weather and rarely experienced dangerous weather conditions.

The planet's capital city was Hanna City which hosted the Chandrila Senate house; the site of the New Republic's Galactic Senate in the months following the Battle of Endor. Other known locations on Chandrila included the Old Gather-House, the Senate Plaza, the Mothma Estate, and the Silver Sea. The settlement Junari Point was located a few klicks outside Hanna City and hosted a bar.

History
Pre-Republic
Twenty-five thousand years before the Battle of Yavin, the Rakatan species attacked the planet, plundering a set of twelve Chandi Merle temple figures from Chandrila.

During the Republic
In ancient times, Chandrila was settled by settlers who built the Old Gather House. Chandrila was a member of the Galactic Republic and was one of the Core Founders. During the late Republic Era, Mon Mothma served as Chandrila's senator in the Galactic Senate. The Trade Federation megacorporation made a point to not anger Chandrila, which granted Mothma a degree of leverage over the corporation.

Early into Mothma's career, a succession crisis occurred on Chandrila, which forced Mothma to leave a goodwill historical tour of the fossilized city planet Eyo-Dajuritz early, much to her upset. The Jedi Order was also involved in a diplomatic mission to Chandrila in the years before 22 BBY. An attack on Hanna City occurred early in the Clone Wars.

Age of the Empire
During the early rebellion against the Galactic Empire, Chandrila was listed as an Alliance to Restore the Republic safe world. A map of the galaxy with a legend listing the various Alliance safe worlds, starfighter hubs at level five or higher, rebel operations sectors and regional headquarters, and shadow planets with deep space caches, included Chandrila. The map was later included in The Rebel Files. During the Galactic Civil War, Chandrila supported the Alliance.

By 1 BBY, Chandrila had become one of the thousands of worlds that suffered under Imperial rule. Mothma, by that time the chancellor of the Alliance, recognized her homeworld's suffering but believed she could not let her personal biases get in the way of the Rebellion's decision making; with thousands of worlds suffering under Imperial rule, she could not simply decide to point their resources at helping the one planet. Due to Chandrila's support for the Rebellion, the planet was a target of the Galactic Empire's second Death Star. Olia Choko regarded Chandrila as a small planet that was the origin point of big ideas.

New Republic Era
Following the Battle of Endor in 4 ABY, Chandrila became the capital of the restored Galactic Republic, the New Republic, the successor government to the Rebel Alliance. The reestablished Galactic Senate was based in Hanna City. Queen of the Core Network began broadcasting on Chandrila. Imperial prisoners from war zones like Coruscant and Akiva were imprisoned on Chandrila. New Republic Starfighter Corps pilots were trained at Landing Platform OB-99 near the Silver Sea. At one point, the New Republic's Vanguard Squadron was tasked with assisting in the defense of key worlds, including Chandrila.

After Han Solo and Norra Wexley's team freed a hundred Rebel prisoners from Ashmead's Lock on Kashyyyk, the former prisoners were flown to Chandrila where they were accommodated in temporary housing and received medical treatment. Later, the Senate accepted Grand Admiral Rae Sloane's offer to conduct peace talks near Hanna City. In secret, this was a pretext for Fleet Admiral Gallius Rax to launch his attack on the New Republic leadership using the former prisoners as unwilling assassins controlled with inorganic bio-chips installed in their brains. The resulting Liberation Day attacks were broadcast live on HoloNet to audiences across the galaxy. This had the result of undermining morale in the New Republic and setting the stage for the Battle of Jakku. The attack also led to calls to relocate the New Republic Senate to a more fortified world. Chandrila was also attacked during Operation: Cinder.

In the final months of the Galactic Civil War in 5 ABY, the Republic began the process of temporarily relocating the Senate to the Expansion Region world Nakadia after an Imperial attack on the capital. However, Chancellor Mothma and several senators, including Princess Leia Organa and Tolwar Wartol still maintained offices, on Chandrila. During the Battle of Jakku, Wartol tried to assassinate Mothma by bombing her office. However, Mothma was out of her office but her Adviser Auxi Kray Korbin was killed. Shortly later, Mothma, Organa, Sondiv Sella, and Sinjir Rath Velus met with Grand Vizier Mas Amedda to sign the Galactic Concordance; which facilitated the Empire's surrender to the New Republic. The signing ceremony took place at the crystal cliffs north of Hanna City. On the same day, Organa gave birth to her son, Ben Solo. The Imperial capitulation was followed by a week–long Festival of Liberation.

By 9 ABY, Chandrila retained it's role as the New Republic's capital. However, the capital would relocate to Coruscant.

In Luke Skywalker's dream in 34 ABY on Ahch-To, in which he imagined how things were if he had not joined the Rebel Alliance and instead stayed on Tatooine and married Camie Marstrap, the Empire used the Death Star to not only destroy Alderaan but also Mon Cala and Chandrila.

Inhabitants
Chandrilans were regarded as peaceful but slightly haughty, pedantic, and interested in politics. Following the Imperial Era, some Chandrilans disliked former Imperials.

Places of Interest
Hanna City
Hanna City was the capital of the planet Chandrila. During the New Republic Era, the city was a beacon of the New Republic and briefly served as its capital.

Description
Hanna City was a large city that was the capital of Chandrila. Built right on the expansive Silver Sea, the city's white, cliff-like structures, towering spires, and domed buildings met right against its pebbled beaches. The ocean provided the fishing industry to the city's business, with a fishery and docks being located near Barbican Road. The city streets were often bustling with crowds of people. Speeder traffic near the central docking station was also common during midday. Hanna City had hundreds of landing platforms, managed by Chandrila tower control, to accommodate the large population. One of the larger buildings in the city was the New Republic Defense Fleet headquarters, which stood a gleaming monolith of the New Republic.

Outside Hanna City lay beautiful landscapes of misty forests and windswept meadows, which were all around the city and visible from some of the taller buildings. There were also other seaside destinations such as Junari Point, which was a few kilometers outside the city.

History
The Confederacy of Independent Systems Navy launched an attack on Hanna City early in the Clone Wars for reasons that were never clear to Senator Mon Mothma, who pondered if the failed assault was an attempt at striking fear into their hearts.

Its governor in 5 BBY was a friend of Perrin Fertha, having served with him in the same regiment. The governor attended a dinner party thrown by Fertha at the Chandrilan Embassy that year. The city was home to the Galactic Senate of the New Republic, as Mon Mothma decided to have her homeworld of Chandrila to serve as the Republic's capital after the Battle of Endor. In the first days of the new Senate, Hanna City featured an art installation in the city circle featuring stormtrooper helmets painted with Rebel Alliance sigils, starbursts, and other various colors. The HoloNews network Queen of the Core Network's first day involved broadcasting the festivities at Hanna City.

Barbican Road
Barbican Road was a road in Hanna City, the capital city of Chandrila. It was located nearby the pebble beach as well as the Old Hannatown Market.

Capitol building
The capitol building were domed buildings located in Hanna City on the planet Chandrila. When Lando Calrissian and Kaasha Bateen walked arm in arm one night, the capitol buildings sparkled against the dark sky.

Docking Platform E-22
Docking Platform E-22 was a docking platform in Hanna City, the capital city of Chandrila. After freeing advisor Yupe Tashu from prison, Windom Traducier, an undercover Imperial agent posing as a New Republic Senate guardsman, informed Tashu that a ship was waiting for him on Docking Platform E-22.

Eleutherian Plaza
The Eleutherian Plaza was a large plaza in Hanna City that housed the Chandrila Senate house following the Battle of Endor. The Chandrila Senate house housed the New Republic's Galactic Senate between 4 ABY and 5 ABY. It was near the Old Gather-House and the Senate Plaza.

Chandrila Senate house
The Chandrila Senate house, also referred to as the Senate Building, was a building located in the capital city of Hanna City on the planet Chandrila. It served as the temporary headquarters of the Galactic Senate of the New Republic. The building had a main auditorium, secondary auditoriums, and endless scalloped balconies.

Embassy Row
Embassy Row was a street in Hanna City on the planet Chandrila that was home to an apartment owned by Han Solo and Leia Organa.

Grand Promenade of the Rebellion
The Grand Promenade of the Rebellion was a street in Hanna City on the planet Chandrila.

Hanna City opera house
The Hanna City opera house was a building in Chandrila's capital, Hanna City. In 5 ABY, the Imperial agent Windom Traducier installed a transponder at the top of the opera house that was used by Fleet Admiral Gallius Rax to activate mind behavioral modification biochips that had been implanted inside the heads of former Ashmead's Lock prisoners. As a result, the prisoners attacked New Republic officials and military officers during the Liberation Day attacks.

Hanna City greenhouse
The Hanna City greenhouse was located in Hanna City, the capital of the Core Worlds planet Chandrila. The greenhouse cultivated sun-dew flowers, a type of flower with firm stems and resilient petals.
In 5 ABY, the captain Wedge Antilles purchased six sun-dew flowers from the Hanna City greenhouse, intending to give them to the pilot Norra Wexley, for whom he had feelings. Though a woman at the establishment suggested he buy a larger and more colorful bouquet, he opted to stay with a smaller bundle, hoping that Wexley would appreciate it more. Afterward, Antilles took the flowers he had acquired from the greenhouse to a landing pad to give to Wexley, though he ultimately decided against it upon seeing her arrive on Chandrila alongside her husband, Brentin Wexley.

Heroes of the Republic Boulevard
Heroes of the Republic Boulevard was a road in Hanna City on the planet Chandrila. The street was commonly very busy with crowds of people. When making his way back to his apartment, the smuggler Han Solo made his way through bustling crowds on Heroes of the Republic Boulevard before turning down to Revolina Street.

Landing Platform OB-99
Landing Platform OB-99 was a landing platform which overlooked the Silver Sea on the planet Chandrila. In 5 ABY, the New Republic Starfighter Corps Captain Wedge Antilles held regular X-wing starfighter classes for Temmin Wexley at this platform.

New Academy
The New Academy was a military school that was established by the New Republic in Hanna City, on the planet of Chandrila, in the early days of that new government. Some children, including a boy named Pade, who had initially been destined to attend the local Imperial Academy on Uyter, ended up joining the New Academy instead.

New Republic Defense Fleet headquarters
The New Republic Defense Fleet headquarters was a monstrous, gleaming citadel that formed the headquarters of the New Republic's Defense Fleet located in Hanna City on the planet Chandrila.

Old Gather-House
The Old Gather-House was a historic building in Hanna City, capital of the planet Chandrila. It consisted of several strata that were inhabited by different waves of settlers who settled on Chandrila, which made the building difficult to navigate through. The Old Gather-House was situated near the Senate Plaza and the Eleutherian Plaza, the latter of which housed the Chandrila Senate house that was host to the Galactic Senate of the New Republic. During the Liberation Day celebrations of 5 ABY, the Imperial emissary Grand Admiral Rae Sloane watched the proceedings from a balcony on the building. During the subsequent attack on Chandrila, the building was engulfed by civilians who were attempting to flee the fighting nearby. Sloane fought with the New Republic pilot Norra Wexley during her escape from the building.

Old Hannatown Market
Old Hannatown Market was a market in Hanna City, the capital city of the planet Chandrila. Located in between the residential district and the Silver Sea, the market could be crowded but was quiet in the late evening. In 5 ABY, on the evening before the Liberation Day celebration in Hanna City, the human Temmin Wexley followed his estranged father Brentin Lore Wexley through the residential district and into Old Hannatown Market. Temporarily losing Brentin, Temmin looked around and noticed him walking down Barbican Road toward the beach, and left the market to follow him.

Polis District
The Polis District was a district in Hanna City, the capital city of the planet Chandrila.

Skygarden
The Skygarden was a floating botanical garden above Chandrila's Hanna City. It was a popular location for Chandrilans to gather at in order to openly debate political topics. Following the Battle of Endor, Admiral Ackbar met with the New Republic pilot Norra Wexley at the Skygarden in an attempt to convince her to end her search for Han Solo. Norra refused and resigned from the New Republic Defense Fleet. She and her team, including her son Temmin Wexley, then resumed their hunt for Solo.

Revolina Street
Revolina Street was a street in Hanna City on the planet Chandrila. After attending a New Republic pilot's union meeting at the Chandrila Senate house in 7 ABY, the smuggler Han Solo began to walk back to his apartment by turning off of Heroes of the Republic Boulevard onto Revolina Street.

Senate Plaza
The Senate Plaza was a large public square located in Hanna City, capital of the planet Chandrila, that was situated near the historic Old Gather-House and the Eleutherian Plaza, the latter of which housed the Chandrila Senate house which hosted the Galactic Senate of the New Republic. In 5 ABY, the Senate Plaza hosted a large Liberation Day celebration which featured a hundred former rebel prisoners from Ashmead's Lock. The celebration was attended by a large crowd of citizens and New Republic officials including Chancellor Mon Mothma. The celebration was marred by the attack on Chandrila which saw the former prisoners involuntarily attacking and killing New Republic officials.

A junk shop was located in Hanna City on the planet Chandrila.

Hanna Institute of Antiquities was a location on the Core Worlds planet Chandrila.

Junari Point
Junari Point was a seaside location that was located several kilometers away from the Chandrilan capital of Hanna City. It was home to a bar that was frequented by the former Imperial Security Bureau loyalty officer Sinjir Rath Velus during his rest and recreation time.

Lake Andrasha
Lake Andrasha was a lake on the Core World planet of Chandrila. In 5 ABY, the Special Senator Council on Galactic De-Escalation Strategies, a subgroup of the legislature of the New Republic, was transported by former Rebel Alliance pilot Norra Wexley to the lake, where a meeting was held. When the Republic's Captain Wedge Antilles visited Wexley on Chandrila, she mentioned bringing the senators to Lake Andrasha.

Mothma Estate
The Mothma Estate was a location on the planet Chandrila owned by the Mothma family. The wedding of Leida Mothma and Stekan Sculdun was held at the estate.

Sarini Island
Sarini Island was an island located on the planet Chandrila. It featured a zoo. In 5 ABY, Brentin, Temmin, and Norra Wexley arrived in Sarini Island to visit its zoo. During their visit, they saw pangorins in their grottoes, caw-crabs splashing around their enclosures, and uralangs, which Brentin laughed at.

Silver Sea
The Silver Sea was an expansive sea on the Core Worlds planet Chandrila. Located near the Chandrilan capital of Hanna City, multiple buildings in and around the capital had a view of the sea. In 5 ABY, aspiring pilot Temmin Wexley trained over the Silver Sea both physically and in a flight simulator. Later that year, Imperial defector Sinjir Rath Velus and several of his companions visited a tavern located along the sea's cliffside.

Description
Located on the Core Worlds planet Chandrila, the Silver Sea was an expanse of calm, slate-gray water. Chandrila's capital, Hanna City, was located near the sea, as was Landing Platform OB-99. The office of New Republic general Leia Organa overlooked the sea, as did her apartment's balcony and a tavern. Part of the Silver Sea's coast was formed by cliffs against which waves crashed. There were also docks located in the sea.

History
Four years after the Battle of Yavin, former smuggler Han Solo traveled to Chandrila aboard his starship Millennium Falcon. Solo flew the Falcon over the Silver Sea, which sparkled beneath the craft.

A year later, in 5 ABY, Chandrila's transition from the winter to spring seasons resulted in the formation of storm clouds over the sea that released rain and lightning. By that time, New Republic pilot Wedge Antilles allowed Temmin Wexley, son of fellow New Republic pilot Norra Wexley, to perform training exercises in an X-wing starfighter above the Silver Sea. When Temmin boarded the starship Halo to meet with his mother and her crew, the sun rose over the Silver Sea. Later, Antilles had Temmin fly over the sea in a flight simulator. In the simulator, Temmin repeatedly crashed his starfighter, including an instance where he flew close to the sea's surface to avoid sensor arrays.

A tavern that was located above the Silver Sea was frequented by Imperial defector Sinjir Rath Velus near the end of the Galactic Civil War between the Galactic Empire and the New Republic. After the Battle of Jakku in 5 ABY, which ended the conflict, Velus and several of his friends visited the tavern. During their visit, Chandrila's moon brightened the sea. At the end of their night, Velus and his last remaining companion, bounty hunter Jas Emari, stood and spoke outside the tavern as wind blew off the Silver Sea and waves crashed below them.

An alcoholic drink called the Silver Sea Martini was served aboard Chandrila Star Line's MPO-1400 Purgill-class star cruiser Halcyon in 34 ABY. Like the sea, the drink was gray in color. The Halcyon also contained a courtyard known as the Climate Simulator, which contained stones collected from the Silver Sea.
