That year, following the Alliance's victory at the Battle of Yavin, Eso attended a ceremony held in the Alliance's headquarters on the moon Yavin 4, which honored the Heroes of Yavin.

The Human male Deacon Eso was an engineer in the Alliance to Restore the Republic during the Galactic Civil War, a conflict between the Alliance and the Galactic Empire. At some point during the conflict, Eso was among the engineers sent to the planet Corellia to ensure and assist in the production of the Alliance's starships.

By 0 ABY, Eso had attained the rank of captain. Immediately preceding 0 ABY, the Battle of Yavin occurred, during which the Alliance destroyed the Imperial DS-1 Orbital Battle Station superweapon over the moon Yavin 4. Following the battle, the Alliance held a ceremony in the Grand Audience Chamber of the Great Temple, their headquarters on Yavin 4. Eso was present during the ceremony, which was held in honor of the Heroes of Yavin: Luke Skywalker, Han Solo, and Chewbacca.
