Description: Glerb was an Quarren who served as a pirate in the crew of Captain Silvo during the New Republic Era. After the crew mutinied against Silvo, Glerb was among those who gathered to see their new leader Brutus deliver judgement on him, cheering when the former captain was sentenced to death.
However, when Silvo delivered a speech in his defence, he promised Glerb the chance to buy an ocean rather than the glow-weed plantation that the Quarren had been saving for. Ultimately Silvo won over many of the pirates by revealing he knew the location of the legendary planet At Attin and its treasure, so it was decided that Silvo would be spared while they traveled to the world.
Upon their arrival at At Attin, the pirates found it surrounded by a barrier that Silvo claimed was merely camouflage and safe to pass through. Glerb volunteered to test this and flew a snub-fighter into the barrier under the callsign Ravager One. The Quarren reported to Brutus over the fighter's comms until the devices within the barrier destroyed the snub-fighter with lightning, killing the Quarren.
Biography
A captured captain
Glerb was a Quarren pirate who served in the crew of Captain Silvo during the era of the New Republic. He saved his earnings to one day buy a glow-weed plantation, a fact that was widely known among his comrades. After the crew's First Mate Brutus led a mutiny against Silvo, the former captain escaped from the mutinous crew but was recaptured and brought before them for judgement on Brutus's frigate.
The Quarren cheered as Brutus immediately pronounced Silvo guilty and ordered him thrown out the airlock, but the pirate Chaelt objected, reminding Brutus that Silvo had the Right of Last Appeal under the Pirate's Code. Brutus grudgingly granted Silvo equal time to defend himself, but when the former captain started his defence by saying he was hungry, Glerb chuckled and looked around at the other pirates.
Glow-weed dreams
However, as Silvo continued his speech he began to win over his former crew, who murmured in agreement when the prisoner reminded them that all of them were hungry due to the meagre scraps they survived on. He then promised them more, approaching Glerb and suggesting that instead of a plantation, the Quarren would be able to buy and entire ocean, which Glerb was wairly impressed by. Silvo then revealed an Old Republic credit, which Glerb and the other pirates leaned in to get a better look at, while the former captain claimed to know the location of the legendary hidden planet At Attin where such credits were still made.
When Silvo claimed to have heard this from Rennod himself, Brutus objected and pointed out that Rennod was dead, but Silvo sang a chant about Rennod plundering At Attin that many of the pirates joined him in singing. Glerb nodded in agreement when Silvo described Brutus as a good First Mate, but many pirates then cheered when their former captain suggested that he could lead them to far more wealth. With the prisoner's equal time run out, Brutus announced that they would go to At Attin, but warned Silvo that he would still be executed if it was a disappointment.
Volunteering for death
Upon arriving at At Attin, the pirates found the world surrounded by a barrier, which Silvo claimed was merely camouflage and should be safe to pass through. The former captain volunteered to fly through it himself, but Brutus refused and instead sought a volunteer among the crew. Glerb volunteered and donned a flight suit and flight helmet before taking off from the frigate in a snub-fighter. Flying under the callsign Ravager One, Glerb reported in to Brutus over comms and was ordered to get on with it.
Entering the barrier, the Quarren encountered low visibility, with static beginning to interrupt his communications and control of the fighter then becoming choppy. Glerb claimed he could handle it, but then sighted something ahead before his vessel was destroyed by lightning projected from the devices within the barrier. As the Quarren's final screams were cut off over the comms, Silvo suggested they send another fighter in, but Brutus rejected the idea and prepared to execute Silvo, who was only saved by the arrival of the Onyx Cinder, a vessel capable of passing through the Barrier.
Personality and traits
Glerb dreamed of retiring from pirate life and leaving Brutus's crew to settle down on his own glow-weed plantation once he had amassed enough wealth. He initially scoffed at Silvo's speech, but was drawn in by the promise of an ocean and the site of an Old Republic credit. He volunteered to fly into the barrier surrounding the world, leading to his death. He had brown skin, black eyes, and was missing the ends of his outer left and inner right face tentacles.
Equipment
Glerb wore a brown jacket with a yellow life support box on his chest and a black scarf. He had golden bands around several of his tentacles and golden piercings in his gills.
