Star Wars: Legacy: 35: Storms Part 2

What is it ? : On Coruscant the Imperial Moffs gather awaiting the arrival of Darth Wyyrlok from Korriban, they wonder what has happened as Krayt left mysteriously with only a few followers, Nyna Calixte tells them she hears that things didn't go well and Krayt is in healing on Korriban but she thinks they are hiding something.
On Bastion, Roan Fel berates his Imperial Knights for not knowing for certain if Krayt is dead, and for not returning the Muur Talisman to him, although they argue it was too dangerous he remains sure he would have been able to master it.
On Kiffex, Cade and Jariah are fighting outside a cantina, because Cade was cheating at cards. He uses the force to make one of them lick his boots, but he is part of a gang and they see this so turn on Cade and Jariah as the Police turn up. The Police break up the fight, and Cade and Jariah are about to be arrested for starting it, but Cade resists even though one of the police is Rawk's daughter. Jariah stands between Cade and Ahnah Rawk, and Cade lowers his weapon rather than attack Jariah, so Jariah drugs Ahnah so they can escape instead.
Roan Fel communicates with a cloaked figure who reports that Krayt is reported as being in healing stasis on Korriban, but may actually be dead, but anyone who went to Korriban to check would be on a suicide mission.
Cade returns to Rawk's home and encounters an armoured figure, who turns out to be Azlyn, and she attacks him, saying that she would rather have died than be kept alive by the armour. Deliah stops Azlyn hurting Cade, and Rawk tells Cade he has two days to repair his ship and leave, and not return for making Droo go against Azlyn's wishes and keep her alive.
Two days later, Ganner Krieg meets up with Azlyn on Kiffar to take her back to the Imperial Knights. And Cade, Jariah and Deliah leave Kiffar on the Mynock, with Cade deciding every time he tries to do right he gets kicked in the teeth for it, although Jariah points out that he tried to kill Krayt for selfish reasons (to avoid being hunted by Krayt), and he got Azlyn healed for selfish reasons (because he couldn't bear to see her die). And the three of them think there is profit to be made in the chaos with Krayt gone, so they head out into the galaxy planning smuggling and piracy. . . .

High Points : Where we're not dealing with Cade the issue is rather interesting, as we see the lines of intelligence between the Fel Empire and the Krayt Empire, as the Moff's seek information they don't have access to.

Low Points : But Cade's part of the issue is just kind of stupid and pointless, he gets in a fight because he wants to lash out, forcing someone to lick his boots in a pretty Sith'y kind of way. As I've said many times before, it's difficult to get behind someone as mean and nasty as this, without them being very cool.
And Azlyn's armour, firstly doesn't look very cool. For something supposedly based on Vader's suit, it looks more like Boba Fetts, with plates of armour strapped to it's outside, something which doesn't make sense given it is described as basically being a mobile bacta tank. And Azlyn herself, although we may presume that she's suffering in the same way Vader did, in constant pain, that's never made clear and rather she wants to die because she'll never feel a breeze on her skin again, or the touch of another being? Which all seems a little nebulous (given that many people live on starships, is the breeze of an air reprocessing system really worth dying for?). Cade saved her life, and she attacks him, it does really seem that he did the right thing and she doesn't appreciate it.

So what do you really think ? : Not impressed by this issue at all, there's a lot of filler here, Cade getting in a fight for no reason, threatening Rawk's daughter for no reason, Azlyn being annoyed at Cade for little reason, and us discovering that no one is sure that Krayt is alive or dead. Apart from Cade burning his bridges with his uncle, there really is nothing that happens here that we couldn't have presumed without ever reading this issue at all.

Final Words : So Cade has now got a plan, to become a pirate and smuggler. While there's chaos in the galaxy, Cade is just going to be out for money. . . . Sigh!

Score : 7/10

First off, Roan Fel is definitely showing signs of wanting power - a sign of the dark side. And his IK are either unable to keep in on the right path, or are unwilling. Makes me wonder if the IK are really all that effective. In any case, it's heading towards disaster.

As for Cade, he's showing how much he's like Anakin. He went after Krayt for selfish reasons, but it was the right thing to do overall. Him saving Azlyn - parallels Anakin wanting to save Padmé. Since the Sith returned and turned his life upside down, he's been angry. Angry with them, with the galaxy, and with himself. He has every right to be angry. Unlike Anakin, he doesn't want to fix the system, so as to speak. He had basically given up on everything. Like he asked at that meeting on Taivas, why should the Jedi even bother with helping the galaxy any more. The Jedi had gone out and helped/saved the galaxy many times in the past. And what happened? When the Jedi needed help, the galaxy turned on them. So why should they bother anymore? I see a parallel between this and Han's thinking after Balance Point. After escaping from the Yuuzhan Vong on Duro with Leia badly hurt, he was ready to gather his family and head to the Unknown Regions. And I think he would have done his best to convince Luke to have the Jedi come with him, because the galaxy had basically abandoned them.

I can understand where Cade's coming from. I just don't agree with some of the choices he made in dealing with it.
