Star Wars: Legacy: 38: Tatooine part 2

What is it ? : The assassins hired by Black Sun last issue encounter a drunk man in an alleyway, revealing that two of them are Anzat, who drink the liquified soup of other sentients brains using proboscises which emerge from their cheeks, as the female kills the drunk man by feeding on him. She can sense the Force within Cade, and wants to feed on him, warning her mate to not get in the way of her feeding.
Meanwhile Cade and Jariah are in a nearby cantina getting drunk, and claiming it's what Deliah would want. Gunn Yage enters the cantina and flirts with Cade, buying him a drink which she drugs and he collapses unconscious. She then pretends that he is drunk and to be escorting him out, as the assassins watch.
Meanwhile Deliah is upset that she is being forced back into the old cons she used to do before she met Cade and is crying when she meets a member of the Imperial Mission who mistakes her for another member of it as that is how she is dressed. She introduces herself as Astraal Vao, and asks for help from the mission on behalf of a farmer who also helped her, who needs the part for his starship, which the Imperial agrees to do.
Gunn Yage contacts Morrigan Corde to inform her she already has Cade, and she is taking him back to the Imperial base, Corde is unhappy that Gunn revealed their mission to the Imperial Moff, fretting as to why she ever had children.
As they travel in Gunn's Landspeeder, Cade awakens, making sexual jokes about being handcuffed by a beautiful woman, and pretending to enjoy the shocks from his cuffs. He then force chokes her, causing the speeder to crash, exactly where the assassins have set up an ambush and begin firing at them.
Meanwhile, Jariah flees from the husband of the Twilek he was romancing pretending to be a Jedi needing refuge, and bumps straight into Morrigan Corde who tells him that Cade is in danger, and the two use her speeder bike to try to get to him in time.
Deliah is taken to the Imperial Mission in Mos Eisley, and sees the good it is doing, but keeps her scam going to get the parts they need for the Mynock.
A sandstorm has come down around Gunn and Cade, and the Assasins begin fighting between themselves, as the third non-Anzat member of the team thinks the other two aren't trying to kill their targets, but preserve them for feeding.
Across the galaxy on Coruscant, Grand Admiral Morlish Veed attends the meeting he was summoned to with Darth Wyylok, who tells him that Krayts wounds are serious, so while he will continue to hand down Krayts instructions, Veed is to be the Regent, a face that people recognise, something Veed agrees to. . . .

High Points : So this is the most Star Wars that Legacy has ever been, with Cade and his half sister Gunn getting pretty close to kissing (they get close, and perhaps do, but we're not shown it happening). Okay so neither of them know they're related, and Gunn is doing it to get Cade to drink some knock out drops, but it's brother sister kisses are core Star Wars.

Low Points : Joking aside, this issue isn't great, with a lot depending seemingly coincidental, because the assassins know that Gunn will be taking Cade back to the Imperial Base, so know the route she is taking to set up an ambush on. But they just happen to set up their ambush at exactly the spot where Cade wakens and force chokes Gunn, causing their speeder to crash.
The issue also jumps around a lot, instead of cutting away to Deliah twice, we could have covered her story earlier, keeping the action going without cutting away from it, something the issue also does at the end, going to Coruscant in a totally unrelated storyline, cutting all tension out of the action, especially after seeing the assassins squabbling with each other.

So what do you really think ? : The storyline is all over the place, having seperated the main characters into three groups, so we need to keep jumping between them, and we've got the assassins and the Morlish Veed storyline, so are following 5 groups, not giving any of the storylines enough space, and while Cade's is the most immediate, and has the most space devoted to it, the other storylines just distract from it.

Final Words : So presumably, Morrigan and Jariah will come to the rescue of Cade and Gunn, and then they'll have to deal with the assassins, and even perhaps rescue Deliah from the Imperial Mission, but it really feels like this storyline needs something to make it a bit more interesting.

Score : 7.5/10
