Star Wars: Legacy: War 5

What is it ? : 3 days have passed since the battle at the Jedi Hidden Temple, and the allied forces have retreated to Bastion. The captured Sith Trooper is being analysed by Fel's scientists, while Roan Fel watches and Hogrum Chalk advises him to take Darth Maladi's toxin and use it or his Empire will fall before these powerful enemies.
Cade mourns the loss of Rawk, taking the blame on himself while Jariah tells him that those that died in the battle didn't do it because of Cade, they made the decision of what they wanted to fight for on their own, putting his and Deliah's support behind Cade no matter what he wants to do next.
Aboard the flagship of the Krayt fleet that joined the allies, Gunn and her father Rulf Yage are surprised when Morrigan Corde/Nyna Calixte arrives, and the two while still having issues, Rult admits that he is glad she is still alive.
On the planet, Antares Draco once again dons his Imperial Knight armor, but is concerned that the Sith have implanted some programming to make him betray his duties, but is reassured when Roan Fel himself speaks of his trust in Antares.
Roan Fel advises that the allies are at their most powerful at the moment, that the Chiss and Hapan's aren't going to send ships, so they should strike at Coruscant as soon as possible before they lose any more ships, their plan is that Nyna Calixte should use her knowledge and skills as the former head of Krayt Imperial Intelligence to disable the planets defences. So she sets off on the Mynock with Cade, Jariah and Deliah.
On Coruscant the command centre detects the fleet emerging above the planet, when Cade, Calixte, Azlyn Rae, Ganner Krieg, Shado Vao and Rasi Tuum attack and disable the planetary defences. Without the defences, the Annihilators launch to attack, and are met by the combined forces of Rogue and Skull Squadrons fighting side by side.
After destroying the command centre, Cade leads the group towards the former Jedi Temple to attack Krayt, but they seem to have lost Calixte along the way, as she has headed to Veed's home where she guns him down in revenge.
Seeing the battle isn't going particularly well, Roan Fel and Antares Draco visit Darth Maladi in their ships prison cell, and Fel takes the toxin she has created for him, but as they leave she contacts Darth Krayt to tell him that she has done as instructed.
In the battle the Mynock takes damage, and crashes with Deliah and Jariah aboard, and Calixte spots it, disappointed that now she'll need to find another ship.
Cade using the hidden entrance to the Jedi Temple he used to explore as a child growing up there, discovers that Darth Talon has discovered them and is waiting for them with a Sith force. A fight breaks out, and although Cade's force is successful, it leads to Talon fleeing with a warning for Krayt that Cade has become more powerful, and the death of Cade's former master Wolf Sazen. Shado Vao tells Cade to go for Krayt while the rest of them hold off the Sith, and Cade departs to end it all. . . . .

High Points : This is what I've been waiting for throughout the Legacy series, for Cade to have a clear motivation, he's out to get Krayt and leading his force with a set plan. I know what he wants to do and I can get behind that and be involved as I know what is at stake and when things go wrong. And we're losing some major characters along the way, we lost Rawk last issue and Wolf Sazen this issue, there's risk and danger and action, and a really enjoyable read, all as Roan Fel is corrupted by his closest aide to commit a horrible atrocity. I'm really excited to see how it ends.

Low Points : Cade has used his secret entrance to the Jedi Temple before, and yet he expects no-one to know about it, Krayt and Talon both were very aware of him sneaking into the Temple before, and I'm surprised they didn't just block off those tunnels. But it makes sense that Krayt would leave it as a trap for Cade as for a long time he wanted to recapture Cade for his healing powers.

So what do you really think ? : While a solid issue, the writers seem to have had a problem with them setting up so many storylines. We had Joker Squad introduced near the beginning of the series, and have followed them, they're honourable warriors ill suited to working for the corrupt and dishonourable Krayt Empire, and we had it set up for them rebelling along with Skull Squadron. But sadly they just seem to have been forgotten in favour for us following Skull Squadron instead, who do have a family link to Cade, but were introduced much later.

Final Words : So one final issue to go, and it's all down to a clash between Krayt and Cade, which feels right that the series should end with the protagonist and antagonist going head to head. But the interesting bit will be how all the other storylines come to an end, what is Talon's destiny, what happens with Maladi, Roan Fel and the toxin? We shall see next issue.

Score : 9/10
