What is it ? : In the Ithori system another Imperial Knight is responsible for building another communications array and notices that Yalta Val hasn't been in touch from the Carreras System suspicious that something is going on.
Meanwhile in the sewers of Carreras, Ania is flying her ship trying to escape security on speeder bikes, and Sauk uses the lightsaber they have to slash at pipes as they fly past, releasing a cloud and allowing them to escape into the skies and get away.
On the dark world of Mala, the real Yalta Val receives a hologram communication from the fake Yalta Val who tells him he won't get used to the helmet he is locked into, but is welcome to join him if he embraces the darkness. The fake hears of Ania's escape, and tells the governor that he'll take charge of the investigation.
Ania and Sauk have returned to the scrap yard, where they attempt to repair the droid and work out what to do next, when they are joined by an IG Droid who is a customer of theirs looking for parts, which advises them to get rid of the lightsaber as they are out of their depth.
Suddenly the fake Yalta Val arrives, and Ania and Sauk set a scrap droid on him, and flee through the scrap yard, eventually being rescued the the IG Droid who is called AG-37 who fights off the security and they escape in his ship. The fake Yalta Val returns to the governor, telling her to finish the communications array while he deals with the Sith threat.
On Coruscant Empress Marisiah receives a communication from the Imperial Knight in Ithori, Jao Assam, who tells her of the problems he perceives in Carreras, and she seeks advice from Antares Draco who warns they are short of Imperial Knights, something they cannot allow to become apparent to the galaxy.
In AG-37's ship they discuss the state of the galaxy with him, and he expresses disappointment in the Galactic Federation Triumvirate as he thought they might return to the glory days of the Republic and the Jedi, but when they discover a recording of the fight between the two Yalta Val's stored in the droid, they realise that the Imperial Knight that came for them isn't the real one. However a proximity alarm goes off and they realise they are confronted by a fleet of ships seemingly waiting for them. . . .
High Points : I instantly like AG-37, the casual way he comments on the lightsaber when Ania has tried to hide it from him, and then returns as an absolute beast in combat rescuing them from the security forces sent after them. His views on the state of the galaxy wanting a return to the peaceful times of the Old Republic, it's totally at odds with the image of an IG droid, normally violent assassin droids, this one is seemingly acting as a bounty hunter to bring order to the galaxy while showing extreme compassion.
Low Points : The ease which they escape the fake Yalta Val makes him seem weak, while they slow him down by getting him to fight a scrap droid, he then makes no further appearance in their escape from the scrap yard. I kind of expected more from the apparent big bad of this series. Ania escaping through luck or smarts, but she doesn't need to display any talents, she just gets away. I want to know more about Ania, and this would be the perfect time to display what kind of character she is by having her face off against the bad guy and come out ahead, but we totally miss that opportunity.
So what do you really think ? : This story is hooking me in better than Legacy did, as Ania currently has a clear goal I can get behind, escaping from the fake Yalta Val, and I hope they build on this by giving us a clear view of what her long time goals are. This definitely seems more in alignment with Knights of the Old Republic, by having her on the run from an authority figure, especially with some mismatched companions, I'm really hoping that Legacy (2013) is going to turn out well.
Final Words : While they may be building towards something in the future, the scenes with Marisiah, Draco and Assam all seem out of place and pointless. It breaks the action, cutting away from Ania being on the run with what seems pretty pointless at the moment. But as I say, it may be introducing those characters to play a much larger part later on in the story.
