What is it ? : A starfighter arrives in the Carreras System containing Imperial Knight Jao Assam and his droid W3, who detect the blockade around the system and instantly realises something is wrong.
Meanwhile nearby, Ania Solo, Sauk and AG-37 are trying to avoid fighters from the blockade, but their vessel is slower, so Sauk guides them into caves in abandoned mining asteroids, and Ania jettisons her vessel from AG-37's ships cargo hold which explodes destroying the pursuing fighters.
Jao Assam lands on the flagship of the blockade, but despite identifying himself as an Imperial Knight they attempt to arrest him, so he launches his fighter once again, using the force to activate the shields in the hangar to stop pursuit, and once outside detects something he finds odd.
On the surface of Carreras Minor, Ania, Sauk and AG-37 are trying to come up with a new plan, while Sauk tinkers with the droid that they found which started all of this, when their vessel is attacked by a giant beast. They attempt to fight it off, but are rescued by Jao Assam, which leads to a stand off as they already are being pursued by an Imperial Knight. They show him the hologram recording from the droid, and he recognises Master Val, but Ania tells him that it's not the man that is identifying himself as Yalta Val. Jao tells them he found them using a tracker contained in the droid, so if they really were being pursued by Val, he'd have found them easily. So they load his fighter aboard theirs, and decide to find the real Yalta Val at the coordinates where the droid made the recording.
Meanwhile the fake Yalta Val tries to have the communications array activated, but it fails and he chokes out the head of construction, much to the distress of the governor.
Ania and her group arrive at the coordinates after skirmishing with fighters, to find there is no planet there, but they are instantly caught in a tractor beam of a capital ship of the blockade fleet.
High Points : Jao Assam instantly comes across as a worthy Imperial Knight, an honorable Jedi like character, finding ways of trusting Ania rather than just following orders, he is seeking the truth. And AG-37 continues to impress, with Jao commenting on having never encountered an Assassin Droid which called for reason before. And Sauk gets the line of the issue, having pulled a blaster rifle on Jao, when AG-37 tells him not to fire, he admits that he has no idea how to operate the rifle anyway.
Low Points : I know the fake Yalta Val is actually a Sith, but he does a really lousy job of hiding it, alerting the governor to something being wrong by choking out her head of construction for being right. They warned the fake Val that they hadn't done all testing required, so when he orders activation early, and it fails, they tell him that they had warned him, which enrages the Sith. But he's trying to pretend to be an Imperial Knight, so should at least make an attempt at being reasonable. But this sith isn't even capable of that level of deceit.
So what do you really think ? : The story is fast moving and we're getting a nice core team together here, AG-37 the old, reasonable assassin droid, Sauk, the genius mechanic, and Ania, the inspiring leader. Ania isn't being terribly well fleshed out yet, but it's early days yet, and she does seem to be doing her best, and trying to do what's right, even if she did gun down some cops a couple of issues ago, this is a group I think I'm going to enjoy spending time with during this series.
Final Words : The starfighter that Jao Assam flies is perhaps the prettiest of the Legacy Era, far better looking than the X-Wing descendants we saw throughout the previous series. On first look I guessed that the rear set of wings rotated to allow the vessel to land, as otherwise the lower wing would hit the ground as the vessel profile from in front is +. And indeed during this issue we see the rear wing rotating as the fighter takes off, a design which looks good, and makes sense. I like it a lot.
