What is it ? : Ania and Jao are caught by the authorities for breaking Dieben out of his execution, but she convinces them to take credit for killing him in exchange for letting them go, and they leave Nalyd in their ship on course for Dac.
Cruising through the wreckage in orbit around the planet, their ship is harpooned and boarded by droids that disable it by cutting through systems. The ship is then taken into a hangar where they are attacked by two guards, but Jao renders them unconscious and they dress in their uniforms to explore further.
They discover Quarren and Mon Calamari enslaved as workers, and free two of them explaining how Jao is an Imperial Knight and here to help, so the workers show them that they are being used to build a fleet with the ruined shipyards.
They are spotted by guards, and as they flee they encounter a Sith Twi'lek Warrior, Darth Luft, who expresses disdain for being connected to Darth Wredd, calling him an apprentice. He forces them into an Escape Pod and jettisons it into the poisoned oceans of Dac below. . . .
High Points : The issue quickly gets Ania and Jao to Dac, and they act decisively and quickly to find out what is happening in the Dac system, where the shipyards are being put into use again, but now building a new fleet for the Sith. It's nice to get the story going after 2 issues of scene setting, and the way Luft uses the environment, the poisoned seas of Dac, as a trap for the heroes is great, putting them in danger without him having to had create an elaborate trap for them.
Low Points : So why are the Sith building a fleet? They escaped at the end of Legacy: War with their fleet of invincible Dragon Ships, which was the equal of any fleet in the galaxy. But now they're building a few ships from the scraps left behind on the construction yards around Dac?
And why was Dieben known to be coming here to his "allies" as the security forces on Nalyd called them, when Luft is a rival of Wredd? This is either a mistake, or I'll accept it could be an extremely complex plan by Wredd to get his enemies to fight. But if that was his plan, it almost went very wrong, as he would have planted the information with Dieben, who then got captured, and revealed it to the security forces that captured him, who felt no need to pass on that information or act on it, meaning that he was only moments from execution when the situation caused the guards to blab it to Ania and Jao. As a master sith plan, it seems fraught with problems.
So what do you really think ? : We getting back on track here, although the story seems obvious, that now Sauk and AG-37 will arrive to rescue Ania and Jao. But I'll happily read that as the pairs presence was sadly missed in this issue and getting the gang back together will only enhance the story.
Final Words : I do wonder about the utility of using the abandoned shipyards around Dac? Do they really have enough supplies and raw materials for building a fleet just lay on hand, and if they did why were raiders not plundering them before Luft arrived? And are they bringing in food for the vast quantity of Mon Cal and Quarren they've brought here as workers, or again was that just laying around untouched?
