Melna (Theelin Dancer) | Sienar Fleet Systems TIE/mg Mining Guild starfighter | Derapha (Phaeda Defence Ship) | 0G-LC (Droid Explorer) |

What is it ? : The Republic Fleet at Eriadu is being overwhelmed when they detect more vessels arriving in orbit, but this turns out to be Keeve Trennis Fleet. They scramble fighters against the Nihil Vessels which are also arriving. They have concerns over Orbalin who has split himself over multiple vessels and is suffering from memory problems from dividing himself so many times. One of them is killed, but Lourna Dee's vessel defends another.
Onboard Lourna needs Tey Sirrek to work on some damage they've received, but he's not at his station so she sends his droid to get him. It discovers him working on the Hand of Siberus which was destroyed, he feels he needs it. But the droid shows him a hologram of his husbands dying moments, which enrages him into hurling the droid across the room, smashing it. He suddenly sees an image of his husband, who blasts him with energy from the Hand of Siberus.
Keeve senses waves of fear surrounding their fleet, and they see a horde of Cthulhu like monsters flying towards them through space . . . .
High Points : So presumably we're seeing the effects of another Fear Engine, with the heroes facing off against many of the same things we saw last issue, which is at least consistent. The characterisation is done well, and the threat of Orbalin who is suffering from dividing himself too many times is interesting, as it's not a threat against his life, but instead as part of him get killed and the memories within die as well, so he slowly becomes less and less.
Low Points : But how often do the heroes have to face against their fears, I know it's literally the name of this series, but I want them to learn because of it, and to see the Jedi adapt to this, but the fears to adapt as well, rather than just the same old thing again and again.
So what do you really think ? : So the Nihil weren't a big military threat, they were raiders. They'd hit Republic targets and escape using their Path drives. Then the Stormwall stopped the Republic from fielding it's fleets against them. We saw that they barely had the power to defeat individual planets within the Stormwall, and used their tactics to their advantage.
But now the Stormwall is down, they suddenly are a massive fleet capable of challenging the best the Republic can throw at them. They've just become any other military threat from any other Star Wars story, instead of using special tactics which made them interesting.
Final Words : The story continues, and at least this issue is action packed and keeps things going. But I can't see us getting any real resolution to the entire story, I feel that either that just isn't being told, or is told elsewhere. The absence of Avar Kriss and the other High Council Jedi makes me think they're off finishing the Nihil War, and we're just seeing some small battle on the periphery. Which seems a sorry ending to the main High Republic series.
