Star Wars: Young Jedi Adventures: Season 2: Story 25: Little Lost Droid

What is it ? : The Young Jedi with Wes Vinik visit the world of Kundu to deliver a droid part to Braygh who has built a new droid. A sandstorm blows in and as everyone takes shelter, a piece of paper blows over the droids photoreceptor and it wanders off into the storm. Braygh follows, and Wes and the Young Jedi help, but as the storm gets worse they see two figures taking the droid, but Braygh, Wes and the Young Jedi have to shelter from the storm.
Afterwards, Braygh says that she recognises the figures as Dostans, who she says are untrustworthy, and leads the group to the Dostan camp. She sees the droid with the Dostans, and panics that they are going to tear it apart for scrap so charges in.
Wes translates as the Dostans only speak Huttese, telling him they found the droid and brought it back to help it, but Braygh doesn't believe them, and in the argument the droid retreats into a cave.
Braygh goes to follow it, but the Dostan's warn the cave is dangerous, but offer to guide them in it, which Wes agrees to. Inside the cave they encounter large tentacles belonging to a creature known as a Dendrok. They avoid a tunnel filled with tentacles, so they take another route which Braygh complains about, but eventually arrive at the droid, Braygh rushes forward to embrace her droid, but dislodges a stone which awakens the Dendrok tentacles.
The Dostan's use their staffs to strike the tentacles to hold them back, but as they flee one catches Braygh, and a Dostan leaps forward to rescue her, freeing her. As they leave the caves, one of the Dostan gets caught and Braygh leaps to help but cannot free it, so Kai and Wes use the force to pull the tentacles free.
Back at the station, Braygh thanks the Dostan for their help, but they have to leave as they need to search for water, but Braygh reveals the droid is a water locating droid, and sets it off and it drills into the ground and begins pumping water out spraying it into the air as everyone stands under the spray celebrating. . . .

High Points : While it's presented with the same skill as other Young Jedi Adventures, this story isn't particularly interesting, seeming more childish than most. In fact it seems less a Young Jedi Story, and more a Wes Vinik story where the Young Jedi are just along for the ride.

Low Points : Braygh is so annoying, she is racist against the Dostan throughout, rushes into danger, and doesn't believe what Wes tells her and behaves irrationally. She totally spoiled the episode for me, as I wanted her to be punished not rewarded for her behaviour, and sadly wasn't.

So what do you really think ? : While there's a certain amount of amusement for children to see an adult character behaving badly, I have difficulty believing even they would enjoy the character of Braygh.

Final Words : So the message of this episode seems to be, don't judge others by their reputation. But really the message seems to be, whine, and behave badly, and others will help you to get you to shut up.

Score : 7.5/10
