Star Wars: Young Jedi Adventures: Season 2: Story 29: The Chop Shop Calamity

What is it ? : Wes Venik and his droid R0-M1 arrive with a part for Nash who is working with the Young Jedi to fix up a ship so she can help her parents with a rush of deliveries. However when R0-M1 and Rj-83 try to fit the part, they smash it into place and it falls to the ground broken. So they decide to take it to Marlaa Jinara to fix.
Meanwhile at Marlaa Jinara's scrapyard, the ugnaught, Eunice Ino, is trying to buy the same part, but Marlaa tells her there are none. Desperate for the part, she says she'll search the yard for one, and Marlaa sends her droids, JG-1 and PT-3, to keep an eye on her to ensure she doesn't steal anything.
The Young Jedi bring the part to Marlaa, who repairs it, but Eunice sees the part that she needs, so causes the droids to become trapped under some scrap so she can steal it. The distraction works, so the Young Jedi pursue her to her ship.
They get past the TT-8L/Y7 gatekeeper droid that is guarding the door, they find Eunice fitting the part, but are spotted trying to steal it and Eunice captures them locking them in a holding area. Nubs uses the force to open the door, and they grab the part by distracting Eunice's Massif's, and she chases them but they topple some crates to block her path and escape, returning the part to Nash's hangar where they celebrate. . . .

High Points : Above I call the group The Young Jedi, but this episode is a Nubs and Nash episode, which works well with just those two. Nubs has always been the most appealing of the group, and Nash has grown on me through the series as she actually seems to have some personality beyond the others.
The series also deals with characters we've seen many times before, so Marlaa and Eunice are known quantities so the episode doesn't need to spend time establishing who they are, and can just get on with the story.
I was also glad to see sensible use of The Force, when they are put inside a holding area, with a force shield controlled by a large lever, so Nubs just uses the force to pull the lever, it was something that I felt should happen because it was so obvious, and when it did, I was glad the characters were behaving sensibly.

Low Points : Even though Wookieepedia lists the vessel they are repairing as The Crimson Firehawk, the vessel definitely isn't, which just lends me the question. Why is Nash so desperate to repair a different vessel to transport cargo for her parents, why not use her normal ship, The Crimson Firehawk?
There's also a minor niggle in the chase, when Eunice is just behind the group as they sprint for the door, but Nubs has time to get ahead, go round the side of some containers, wait until his friends go past, and then push the containers down on Eunice. Did he use Force Speed off camera? Because it certainly looked like Eunice was only feet behind them and they were in danger of getting caught, but somehow he's suddenly ahead.

So what do you really think ? : The episode is fine, definitely better for not having Lys and Kai in it, the story rattles past, and is nice for having loads of characters back from previous episodes and definitely being part of the YJA universe.

Final Words : And the moral of this episode, simply seems to be, Don't steal.

Score : 7.5/10
