What is it ? : Returning to Koboh, Cal heads for the Koboh Control Center to align the arrays to create a path through the Abyss to Tanalorr. Cal solves a final puzzle and activates the beams, and Cal, Merrin and Greez fly the Stinger Mantis into the Abyss.
The Abyss is filled with growths of the Koboh Matter, and Greez pilots the ship but is scared, so Cal diverts power from the shields to the engines and Merrin tells Greez to stop piloting and start flying.
As they swoop deeper into the Abyss they notice the path getting tighter, and Cal asks Zee what's happening and he explains the beacons are failing, so Cal activates the Hyperdrive and makes a blind jump, and turns and kisses Merrin at the same time.
They arrive at Tanalarr, and Cal locates Kata Akuna, before entering the Jedi Temple and fighting Bode alongside Merrin. Until he kills Bode with the same blaster that Bode gave him to fight with.
Merrin befriends Kata, explaining that she was the same age that Kata was when she lost her family, and they have a funeral for Bode, Eno Cordova and Cere Junda, burning their bodies. Afterwards Cal looks into the distance, and the Force Ghost of Cere urges him to guide Kata through the Darkness. . . .
High Points : Storytelling wise this level is satisfying, Cal kills Bode with the weapon that Bode taught Cal to use, Merrin and Cal share a kiss and become a couple as they're among the last standing members of their group, and Greez gets a couple of funny moments.
Low Points : But really, you solve one last puzzle, and then you fight Bode in what comes to mainly being a few quicktime events, there's no big test of your abilities which you've spent the game mastering, just click what you're supposed to click at the right times and you win.
And what even was Bode's plan, that he and his daughter would hide on a fairly barren planet alone forever? That his daughter would be alone when he passed away? Cal's plan is superior for Bode and Kata in every way, because they'd have a group of people around them to build and farm and live with. The only danger being that the Empire would discover Tanalorr and attack much as the Nihil once did.
So what do you really think ? : A very disappointing ending to the game, even down to the story. While to some it might be satisfying that Cal now gets to settle down and play family in hiding from the Empire with Merrin and Kata. We knew that Cal couldn't play a part in galactic events because that story has already been told, but felt like he should have some effect rather than just hiding out. I suppose that if we get a third game, he'll come out of hiding to perform some other task which will end his story in a more satisfying fashion than this.
Final Words : So as a sequel, this just doesn't match up. Star Wars games have always been good at ramping up what you could do, Dark Forces was a shooter, Jedi Knight was a shooter with Jedi powers. X-Wing was a Space Combat Sim, Tie Fighter was a Space Combat Sim with loads of options. But Jedi Survivor doesn't extend Fallen Order in any way except by making the levels larger. And while that might satisfy some kind of itch for some players, being able to explore and find more things, filling out the fishtank and garden at the Cantina on Koboh, getting all the custom paintjobs for BD-1, hunting down all the bounty hunters, but that just didn't interest me.
When Bode was dead, I didn't want to load the game again, and I certainly didn't hold off the final mission like I do in Cyberpunk 2077 so I can explore this vast open world and explore all the things it gives me to do.
It's very competent, but not very memorable and didn't give me anything new that Fallen Order hadn't done before.
