What is it ? : Kara is chased across the surface of the planet by the tribe of aliens she once called friends, they fire arrows at her, while remotely through probe droids the two hunters watch.
Aboard the starship with the mounted Kyber Cannon they are travelling towards Hy Izlan where the giant Kyber Crystal is.
The tribes people catch up with Kara, and discovering that her friend has been captured she allows herself to be captured by them to trade.
Lah Zhima attacks a base belonging to Nawaams forces, defeating the droids and accessing the computer to discover where Nawaam is going and discovers it is Hy Izlan.
Ethan awakens from sleep to find the other Jedi waiting for him they have been sent a transmission by Zhima, and told where Nawaam is going.
Kara gets taken back to the village, where the Hunters lock her lightsaber away along with others she carried, and handcuff her. One of them is going to kill the villagers, but the other doesn't see the point so sets them free.
They take her aboard their ship and she asks if they are going to take her to Nawaam, and they tell her not directly, as they are going to use her as bait to try to capture her father, they know he single handedly attacked a base so are going there. She falls asleep and sees Margraves force ghost who offers her advice as she feels she fell to the Dark Side and failed him, he tells her that all Jedi feel anger, but it's giving into to that anger and letting it shape your life that leads to the dark side not momentary natural slips. When she awakens she is not sure if it was real or a dream.
They take her to the planet Zhima attacked and search the base, discovering that Zhima knows where Nawaam is going, so they intend to go there to help Nawaam.
Overhearing this Kara uses the force to ignite her lightsaber and it cuts it's way through the box and she pulls it to her, cutting through the energy cage she is in, and destroying the handcuffs.
She goes outside, and one of the hunters deploys smoke so she cannot see where he is, and fires at her, his helmet allowing him to see through the smoke. She parries the bolts, but not knowing where they are coming from she only barely parries them taking nicks and cuts from the attacks.
She focuses, switching her lightsaber off, and manages to parry attacks the hunter didn't think possible, even as he taunts her that her lightsaber makes her look like a sith, she realises he has deployed drones to keep the smoke up and to fire at her from different directions, and she destroys them her lightsaber changing to silver as she is calm and focused. And she defeats him.
The other hunter uses a bladed staff weapon and questions how she can move so quickly now, and she ends up holding her deactivated lightsaber to his throat, telling him that his life is hers now and he will serve her. He agrees, but tells her the pay better be good. . . .
High Points : So much of the episode is just putting pieces into place for the end of the story, Nawaam and Gennoh are going to Hy Izlan, Zhima discovers this so is going to Hy Izlan, the Jedi are told this by Zhima and are going to Hy Izlan, and Kara discovers everyone is going to Hy Izlan so decides to go too. It's a necessary episode, but mainly it's all about Kara, as she learns that Anger is natural, and she can't let little mistakes control her entire life, and all about her fight with the Hunter as she learns to be calm and channel her power.
Low Points : But as said, much of the episode is just set up, and really Nawaam and the Jedi's appearances are little more than cameos so we don't forget the exist, there's no discoveries of secrets and we don't take Nawaam or Zhima's stories any further forward which has been the central mystery of the show.
And I have to question the central premise they seem to be developing, that Nawaam, Zhima and now Kara are better warriors because they're neutral, that the anger and hatred of the Sith, which we were told were a quicker easier path, and the calm centred nature of the Jedi are both inferior to being neither, that Kara fights faster as soon as her saber turns silver. And being calm and passionless sounds Jedi anyway? The creator are trying to add something new to the Star Wars Mythos in a gap that doesn't really exist, and to make it better than what already existed.
So what do you really think ? : The fight in the smoke is great, and I have to admit the two hunters stood out, they are the two that chased Kara during the original Ninth Jedi episode of Visions Seaon One, and their differing personalities really stand out as well as a certain level of banter between them. If they'd just been bland Bounty Hunters, or one of many Inquisitors we've seen through the various series, this episode would have been a lot more boring.
Final Words : So we're down to only 2 episodes to go, and everyone is on their way to Hy Izlan, where the original Ninth Jedi episode ended. It all feels very convenient, and I hope they have something more to give that just a big all in melee as everyone arrives.
