Star Wars: Young Jedi Adventures: Season 2: Story 19: Tower Run

What is it ? : The Young Jedi are at Yarrum Tower getting some fruit from former pirate Chigg, he has found some exotic and tasty fruits from nearby worlds and mentions how he loves doing this far more than he ever loved being a pirate.
Above the tower the Ganguls ship, The Rathtar's Revenge, hovers into place, and the gang seize control of the tower, telling everyone that they now work for them and the tower is now their new base.
Chigg tells the Young Jedi that he doesn't want to be a pirate again, and they promise to get him away, but they cannot call for help from Nash as it would take too long for her to arrive. But they spot Taborr Van Dorrn and Lys suggests asking him for help because he doesn't like the Ganguls, but Kai is skeptical.
They approach Taborr, and he likewise is skeptical, but agrees not because he's helping the Young Jedi, but because he's hampering the Ganguls.
They sneak out of the marketplace, hiding under containers to avoid being spotted, and take the elevator down to the landing field where the three original Ganguls are inspecting the ships landed there as they have claimed them as their own, including Taborrs Iron Talon.
They distract the Ganguls with a noise, and begin sneaking to the Iron Talon which Taborrs gang is aboard and readying for flight. However, Taborr decides that he can take out Sellaccc, the leader of the Ganguls, and claim Yarrum Tower as his own, so he charges to attack Sellaccc from behind despite the protestations of the Young Jedi.
Nubs and Chigg get caught in an energy net, leaving Kai and Lys to fight the two remainsing Ganguls as Taborr and Sellacc fight. Taborr gets overwhelmed by the older and larger Trandoshan, and flees to the Iron Talon and launches leaving the Young Jedi behind. And the Ganguls advance on the Young Jedi.
But the Iron Talon swoops round firing it's weapons at the Ganguls, forcing them to flee, giving time for Nubs and Chigg to be freed and everyone to board the Iron Talon with the help of Taborrs crew.
They thank Taborr, but he tells them he didn't do it to help them, but because he felt like it, and he takes them back to Tenoo, where Chigg begins working with Hap, who is looking forward to getting new and exciting fruits for his shakes . . . .

High Points : So the Ganguls rise in power continues, creating an interesting arc across this first half of the season, as they gained a new ship, gained new members, and now have seized Yarrum Tower as their base of operations.

Low Points : However, Taborr's behaviour in this episode seems at odds with his growth he's been making across this season. It seems as if hampering the Ganguls would have been an easy decision for him, he's faced off against them a couple of times, and at least in his true identity seems to be growing to like the Young Jedi. So this arrogant version seems very much like the version of Taborr we would have seen last season. Making me wonder if this one was written by someone who hadn't been involved with the development of the rest of this season.

So what do you really think ? : I was really amused by the Metal Gear Solid trope of the Young Jedi hiding in boxes and shuffling across the room with their feet poking out, but the guards being oblivious to this. And the episode moves along well, and progresses the overall plot fo the season, so this is definitely one of the highlights of this season so far.

Final Words : With one episode to go in this batch of Young Jedi Adventures, this does feel like it should have been a two parter, that the take over of Yarrum Tower should have been more important, with a cliff hanger in the middle to keep up the tension. A definitely missed opportunity.

Score : 8.5/10
