IG-1000 | Stormtrooper Commander | Razell Tameron (Human Bespin Wing Guard) | R1-G4 (Astromech Droid) |

What is it ? : On the world of Munto Codru, the leader of one of the Codru-Ji clans meets with the other leaders, to say he's been contacted by the Sith, who have offered him forces to take control of the world and rule it for their Empire. He says that even if the Sith militarily have the power to seize their world, the Codru-Ji can resist, capturing Sith Leaders or assassinating them. Some of the other leaders think that this alliance he proposes against the Sith still puts him in control of the planet, but he suggests they vote for whoever they want to lead, and he will follow them no matter who they choose.
After the meeting he goes to a temple to reflect on the meeting, and is confronted by a Sith, Darth Kruhl who has been warned of his words by one of the other leaders and kills him, putting the other leader in control of the planet with Sith forces at his command.
Kruhl returns to Darth Maladi to report success, and is sent on his next mission, he will accompany a Governor who is pretending to defect to the Fel Empire with a Star Destroyer, and will sneak onto Bastion to assassinate Roan Fel.
The mission goes successfully up to the point he confronts Fel, who is prepared, and managed to defeat Kruhl as he is trained as an Imperial Knight and has a Cortosis Gauntlet.
The defecting Governor is returned to Coruscant, and informs Darth Krayt of the failure of the mission, and that Fel ordered him to have the crew land on Bastion, where Fel had all the Officers, including the governors son, executed, sending the governor home to report their failure.
Darth Maladi checks he has not spread news of this failure, which he hasn't, and puts him to death. Claiming to Krayt that this was part of the plan, to lure Fel into a sense of complacency, thinking that their plans would all be discovered as easily. But next time she is going to turn a member of his own forces against him, and he'll not see that attack coming. . . .
High Points : When I set up this website, one of the first requests I got was to cover the Codru-Ji, a species I didn't know about, so this issue was nice to get a glimpse into their world and see whether any of my thoughts from reading up on them some 20 years ago were close.
And the two plots within are pretty interesting and devious, a nice look into the assassin work going on behind the scenes of this war between the Sith Empire and the Fel Empire, rather than it all being large scale conflicts. Something Legacy is doing pretty well is showing the Sith being sneaky and devious rather than just confronting their enemies face to face.
Low Points : I think Darth Maladi is making it up as she goes along. Claiming to Krayt that Kruhl being detected was all part of the plan to make Fel think he's smarter than them. Because not only has she sacrificed a Sith minion, who apparently was pretty good, but she's also handed the enemy a capital ship.
And then she pulls out that her real plan is to turn one of Fel's allies against him, but she admits she doesn't know who that will be yet. That's not a plan, that's an aim at best. She can't guarantee that someone will turn, but if they do, she'll take advantage of this. Maladi doesn't come across as a master planner, she comes across as an opportunist.
So what do you really think ? : Again Legacy seems to provide it's best work when the main characters aren't involved, and while this issue does seem a bit pointless in the overall scheme of things, and it doesn't make a huge amount of sense. It does tell an interesting story, in an engaging fashion.
Final Words : So next issue we're going into a 6 part story arc, which I hope means that we're going to get the main story moving forwards once more, whatever that story turns out to be.
I can't help but draw comparisons with Knights of the Old Republic, because both series were running side by side. But by issue 13, KotoR had established it's main characters far better, given us a goal they were trying to achieve, and was already moving onto telling stories with these established characters. But Legacy still seems to be positioning the characters for starting the story. I thought Marisiah was going to be more of a main character, but she hasn't been seen for 5 whole issues already, which when these were being released would have meant she disappeared for around 6 months or more. The writers really don't seem to have a clear idea of where the comic is going to go, and just seem to be dealing with ideas as they crop up.
