Andor: Season 2: Episode 7: Messenger

What is it ? : A year passes.
Wilmon arrives on Yavin IV, finding Bix and Andor living there, Andor has been wounded, and Wilmon has been sent by Luthen to see if he's ready for a mission. The mission is to kill Dedra Meero who is now on Ghorman, as she has been hunting them ever since Ferrix.
On Ghorman, Dedra receives orders from Partagaz, all efforts to artificially make the element on Ghorman have failed, so mining will begin in 48 hours, they need a massive event to allow them to seize control of the planet and evacuate the populace. Syril visits Dedra, and is confused by her telling him that their mission is nearly over and they will return to Coruscant as he doesn't actually know what they've achieved.
On Coruscant, Mon Mothma attends the senate, where reporting is heavily based around the terrorist activities on Ghorman, she meets the Senator from Ghorman, who thanks her for her courage and bravery, telling her to protect herself.
On Ghorman, Dedra overwatches new troops arriving, noticing they are inexperienced rookies, and is disappointed by the quality of forces they are being sent.
Back on Yavin IV, Bix takes Andor to see a Force Healer, he is hesitant due to a bad experience his mother had years before, but the healer seems to have a connection with him, calling him a messenger and healing his shoulder.
Afterwards he boards his U-Wing, and is scolded by General Draven, who tells him the days that the Rebellion operates like privateers is coming to an end, and he won't be welcome if he doesn't follow orders.
Andor and Wilmon land on Ghorman, with Wilmon returning to the Ghorman resistance, and Andor taking up the same hotel room he rented before, to give him a sniping position onto the plaza, where he is recognised by the staff member he'd met there before. He surveys the plaza, realising there are guards positioned almost everywhere even just above his room. . . .

High Points : We're starting to bring everything together, with Andor being sent to kill Dedra, on Ghorman with Syril, so it's all coming back to the original setup of the series. But where this episode triumphs is in the building tension, it's obvious the galaxy is at a tipping point, and some very serious stuff is going to go down.

Low Points : I find it slightly annoying that Andor is flying around in a U-Wing, an obvious military vessel, this seems to be counter to his activities as a secret agent. One of the joys of the RPG was always that the players would have their stock light freighter they'd use, pretending to be traders, and Andor travelling around in a gunship does seem like it would just get him caught. Also it feels like he's using it, because we're getting close to Rogue One, and it's the ship he uses in that movie, so without explanation, he's just flying around in that ship now.
Also the point with Andor disliking the Force Healer seemed a little odd, I could understand if there is a general mistrust of the Force, due to Imperial propaganda against the Jedi, and it might have been interesting to see that even our hero is swayed by that. But this just seems pointless and to come from nowhere.

So what do you really think ? : And this is a slow episode again, not too much happens, we're building tension, we're building towards action, so while it's enjoyable enough, this episode isn't going to be one that you talk about or particularly remember. There's some interesting scenes, but they are all in service to the plot, as we move slowly forwards to what seems inevitable.

Final Words : Although I seem to be down on this episode, it's still extremely good, and I know what's coming, we all know whats coming, and this episode is just setting everything up so that can happen. So it's essential, but a little slow.

Score : 8.5/10
