Description: With the extraordinary success of the X-Wing, the Rebel Alliance expected that its design team would be able to design many other fighters which would continue to give the Rebellion's squadrons space superiority against their Imperial counterparts. Along with many other fighters, they designed the Incom T-75 Hammerhead Interceptor, which used many of the X-Wing's parts in an attempt to keep costs down, and was conveniently similar to fly as the X-Wing fighter. The T-75 is far faster than the X-Wing, and for a short time it was the fastest fighter in the Rebel Fleet, until the A-Wing was introduced. The A-Wing actually saw the end of the T-75, since it was faster, more easy to control and could perform more successful strikes against Imperial shipping due to their targetting jammers. However the T-75 was used for a short time by some Rebel Squadrons until large enough numbers of A-Wing's became available, when the fighters were moved to reserve squadrons and groups allied to the Rebellion where they can still be found.

So...it's faster than an X-wing, gives up nothing in armament, maneuverability, or shields, and yet they just kinda stopped making it? 🙄 You need to learn to balance stats. How could it be as maneuverable without S-foils for thruster placement? If only two laser cannons do the same damage as the four on the X-wing, why would the X-wing need fourâ€â€or why wouldn't its damage be higher than this? If the X-wing was an inferior design to this and this was made of X-wing parts, why would anyone have continued to build X-wings at all, let alone discontinued THIS one?

Fanboyism runs rampant on this site. Let's try for stats that make sense.

The 2004 version of me thanks you for your sage advice.

It doesn't say it uses the same parts, it says it uses "some" of the same parts.
There's nothing above which says that it wasn't hard or expensive to make, both of which would be the reason why a superior fighter wouldn't be used. Why didn't the Empire use exclusively Tie Defenders at the Battle of Endor? In both Legends and Canon it was available beforehand, so using J's logic there's certainly no way that they wouldn't be fielding 100% Tie Defenders by the time of RotJ.
