Whoops, Boooom!

This was during a ToF-SE adventure, the players were mercenaries who had been recruited to act as law enforcement for a city that had just been captured in a war. I was GM`ing, R was playing Dan Skorupski his Human Knight, C was playing Moe, his bioengineered combat creation, K was playing Jasmine Moon, a human Martial Artist, L was playing Ahira, his human tech. We also had two other players in the group at this time, whom we shall call D1 and D2. D1 was a long term player, and was using Michael his Human Psyker, and D2 was using a human psyker (with a background story about his mind being from a parallel dimension).

The adventure followed their day as they went on patrol, and the city came under attack from a hostile genetically engineered super-psyker. And it all came to a head in a hospital room, where they came face to face with the enemy psyker, which was generating a force shield around itself. The players attacked, and found that only physical weapons did any damage at all against this creature, and it was completely immune to Psionic attacks. This did not effect D1 much, since he was wearing armour, and carrying a vast quantity of different weapons, combined with the skills to use them.

D2 however was different, relying on his Psionic powers almost constantly, he only carried a knife and a few grenades. Other players told him to grab spare weapons that they were carrying, but D2 had other ideas.

D2: The force shield, does it go all the way to the ceiling?

GM: You can`t tell, its invisible!

D2: Okay I`m going to try to throw a grenade over it.

The Rest of the Players: No don`t, a grenade in an enclosed space, you`ll kill us all.

D2: No, it`ll be all right, I think the shield is like a wall, so it`ll protect US from the blast.

The Rest of the Players: Okay then.

GM: Right, roll your throwing skill

D2: I don`t have a throwing skill, I`m going to have to default.

The Rest of the Players: Noooooo!

D2: Ooops, I fumbled!

The Rest of the Players: Noooooo!

GM: Okay, you pull the pin from the grenade, which promptly falls at your feet, and explodes.

The Rest of the Players: Noooooo!

The explosion wrecked the room, and caused D2`s character to collapse unconscious, but due to the massive amounts of armour everyone else was wearing, it totally failed to do any damage to anyone else. Oh, and yes the force shield did go all the way to the ceiling.
