Description: Tanalorr was a peaceful and paradisiacal planet, strong in the Force, on the Galactic Frontier of the Outer Rim, located in the nebula Koboh Abyss. Discovered during the High Republic Era by Jedi Knight Dagan Gera, the planet once hosted a Jedi temple before it was invaded by the Nihil marauders. Abandoned by order of the Jedi Council, Tanalorr served as the motivation for Gera's subsequent betrayal of the Jedi Order.

In the Imperial Era, a reawakened Gera—along with the Galactic Empire and the crew of the Stinger Mantis—once more took interest in the lost planet. While Gera was killed before he could reach Tanalorr, the treacherous Mantis crew member Bode Akuna managed to land on the planet, along with his daughter Kata. He was followed through the Abyss by Jedi Knight Cal Kestis and his fellow remaining crew members, and the planet played host to a final duel between Kestis and Akuna, a duel that included Kestis' ally, the Nightsister Merrin.

After defeating and killing Akuna, Kestis and the Mantis crew endeavored to use Tanalorr as an end point for the Hidden Path, as it was a secret paradise where those persecuted by the Empire could remain hidden. Kestis also intended to use Tanalorr as the location to gather the knowledge of the Jedi Archives.

Description
Hidden by the nebula Koboh Abyss, Tanalorr was a peaceful and paradisiacal planet virtually untouched until the days of the Imperial Era that had a strong connection to the Force. There was darkness everywhere in the world, just as there was light.

History
High Republic Era
Originally discovered and named by the renowned Jedi Knight Dagan Gera during an uncharted flight through the deadly nebula Koboh Abyss during the era of the High Republic, Tanalorr became a major focus of both Gera and his fellow Jedi, Master Santari Khri. At one point, the Gen'Dai Rayvis also visited the world. Khri wasn't sure if Gera had chosen a good name for the planet.

The navigational data from Gera's voyage was later used to craft the Abyss compasses, devices capable of navigating a safe path through the Abyss to reach Tanalorr. Although a path to the planet had been discovered, the fact that the nebula prevented communication through it made things difficult for the Jedi.

The Force was strong in Tanalorr, and Gera wanted to build a temple on the planet and begin training initiates, so as to serve as a bastion of the Jedi's light in the Outer Rim. At some point, Master Oppo Rancisis traveled to the planet to assess if the planet was worth being used by the Jedi. During his visit, the Nihil entered the system and began an assault on the planet. Though the Jedi put up a brave defense, the Jedi Council eventually gave the order to abandon the planet, angering Gera greatly. This event served as the catalyst for his fall to the dark side, after which he was sealed in stasis within a bacta tank. Tanalorr remained untouched for centuries afterward, with almost all knowledge of how to reach it being either lost or purposefully destroyed. The Nihil attack, besides being a blow to the morale of the Jedi Order, was useful for the marauders in hindering the Jedi advance in the combat against them. The Jedi intended to use Tanalorr as a bastion to repel the threat of the enemies of peace who threatened the galactic frontier and the Republic.

Imperial Era
Centuries later, at the height of the Imperial Era in 9 BBY, Tanalorr had become a legend among the prospectors of Koboh, though was instead believed to be a hidden world filled with treasure. After Gera was freed from his imprisonment by Jedi Knight Cal Kestis, multiple parties searched for a way to Tanalorr, including Gera and his Bedlam Raider allies, the Stinger Mantis crew, and the former Jedi Bode Akuna, who was masquerading as a member of the Mantis crew. While Gera intended to use Tanalorr as a base in which he would transform the Bedlam Raiders into an army led by disciples who he would teach to use the Force to combat the Empire, the Mantis crew wished to use Tanalorr as a hideout for the Hidden Path, which would serve to shelter those persecuted by the Empire and train fighters to face it. Akuna intended to go to Tanalorr together with his daughter so they could live free from the Empire forever.

Gera eventually discovered that Santari Khri had left one Abyss compass intact in her observatory on Koboh, and set out to retrieve it. This caught the attention of both the Galactic Empire, who battled the Bedlam Raiders' army for control of the observatory, and of the Mantis crew. Both Akuna and Cal Kestis managed to reach the top of the observatory and slew Gera in a fierce lightsaber duel, after which they retrieved the compass—which was damaged during the duel—and returned it to Eno Cordova for repair.

Akuna later betrayed Kestis and murdered Cordova on Jedha, making off with the compass and revealing himself as a former Jedi. Tanalorr, to Akuna, had been a way to finally escape the bonds of the Imperial Security Bureau, who had been using him for dirty work in exchange for keeping him hidden from the Inquisitors. After picking up his daughter Kata from the ISB base on Nova Garon, Akuna set off for Tanalorr.

However, a recording of Santari Khri revealed one more way to reach Tanalorr—by aligning the Forest Array, Shattered Moon Array, and the array on her observatory, one could create a safe path through the Abyss. Kestis and the Mantis crew used this method to reach Tanalorr, where Kestis and the Nightsister Merrin confronted Akuna in a final duel, which ended in Akuna's death. The Mantis crew held a funeral for Akuna, Cordova, and Cere Junda, who had all perished during the journey to reach Tanalorr. With the Mantis crew in possession of the last compass, the planet began to be prepared for use by the Hidden Path, with Merrin and Kestis quickly starting to search for resources. The High Republic droids in the laboratory on the Shattered Moon, Koboh's moon, were considered by both as possible acquisitions for Tanalorr. The Narkis Anchorites who survived the Empire's attack on the archive on Jedha were among those the Mantis crew intended to receive on Tanalorr. In addition to protecting the Hidden Path, Kestis's vow to honor Cere's legacy also included rebuilding the Jedi archive on Tanalorr.

Places of Interest
Radiant Expanse
Radiant Expanse was a region on the planet Tanalorr. It contained the cliffside location Haven's Edge.

Haven's Edge
Haven's Edge was a cliffside area in the Radiant Expanse region of the planet Tanalorr. It bordered the Verdant Gardens, which formed a path between Haven's Edge and a Jedi Temple built on Tanalorr during the High Republic Era. During that era, members of the Jedi Order frequented a meditation spot in Haven's Edge to clear their minds. But the Jedi were forced to abandon Tanalorr by Nihil.

During the Imperial Era, the luxury yacht Stinger Mantis landed in Haven's Edge upon reaching Tanalorr for the first time in 9 BBY. Its crew then disembarked in search of their former crewmate Bode Akuna, who had betrayed them and fled to the Jedi Temple. After slaying Akuna, the crew returned to the Mantis with Kata Akuna, the daughter of Bode, who had joined the crew after his death.

Description
Located in the Radiant Expanse region of the planet Tanalorr, Haven's Edge was a narrow cliff-top area that overlooked a natural vista. Bordered by a sheer drop along one side and stone walls along the other, the rocky flat ground of Haven's Edge was a gray color with patches of white and lavender-colored grasses and other small plants covering it, as well as the occasional white rock. Dark red bushes grew along the base of the area's stone walls, with purple-leaved trees growing atop rocky structures.

On its stone walled side, Haven's Edge bordered the Verdant Gardens area of the Expanse with a single opening in the rock wall leading into a narrow path that eventually opened out into a wider area of the Gardens. A bright aquamarine stream ran down from the Gardens through the rock wall opening and into Haven's Edge, where it pooled before running to the cliff edge and then around to the base of the rock walls, creating a small islet with a pool of its own. A few shallow steps were carved into the rock beside the pool at the entry point to the Gardens and a white stone obelisk adorned with golden elements stood on the cliff edge overlooking the vista.

History
During the High Republic Era, the Jedi Order arrived on Tanalorr and established a Jedi Temple that could be reached from Haven's Edge via the Verdant Gardens. During this era, Jedi used the clifftop area with the obelisk as a meditiation spot, frequenting it in order to clear their minds and find clam within themselves. The Jedi were eventually forced to abandon Tanalorr after they were attacked their by the Nihil marauders group. During the fighting, a Galactic Republic droid fell within Haven's Edge while giving a valiant defence of the planet. Its body was left on a rock at the base of the stone walls.

By the Imperial Era in 9 BBY, the Stinger Mantis, a luxury yacht owned by the pilot Greez Dritus, arrived on Tanalorr and landed on the small islet in Haven's Edge. Its crew then disembarked from the ship in order to search for Bode Akuna, a former crewmate who had betrayed them in order to try and secure a safe life for his daughter Kata Akuna on Tanalorr. The Mantis crew members Cal Kestis, Merrin, and BD-1 set out from Haven's Edge into the Verdant Gardens to find Bode, leaving Dritus behind in Haven's Edge with the yacht. They found the Akunas hiding in the abandoned Jedi Temple and slew Bode, with Kata then joining the crew. Greez then left Haven's Edge and joined the others for a funeral for Bode and the Jedi Cere Junda and Eno Cordova, after which the whole crew returned to the Mantis and departed Tanalorr with the intention of returning to establish a sanctuary from the Galactic Empire.

While in Haven's Edge, Kestis had BD-1 scan the Jedi meditation spot at the obelisk and the long-obselete body of the fallen Republic droid. Merrin and Kestis also discussed how they could sense both the light side and the dark side of the Force everywhere on Tanalorr while in Haven's Edge.

Verdant Gardens
Verdant Gardens was a location on the planet Tanalorr that led to Jedi Temple. It bordered Haven's Edge.

Jedi temple (Tanalorr)
The Jedi temple on the planet Tanalorr was a temple operated by the Jedi Order, during the High Republic Era. The temple was supposed to be a bastion of the Order on the galactic frontier and was built in a place on the planet that was strong with the Force.

After Tanalorr was discovered by Jedi Master Santari Khri and Jedi Knight Dagan Gera on an uncharted trip through the Koboh Abyss, Gera petitioned to the Jedi High Council that he be allowed to train Jedi Initiates on Tanalorr at the Jedi Temple. This led to an analysis of the planet that had to be done in person by Oppo Rancisis, a member of the Jedi Council, because the nebula prevented communication through it. The Jedi intended to use the Temple to repel the threat of the enemies of peace who threatened the galactic frontier and the Galactic Republic, the marauders known as the Nihil.

The Temple and Tanalorr were later abandoned when the Nihil attacked Tanalorr during Rancisis' visit.

Centuries later, during the Imperial Era, the Jedi Knight Cal Kestis and the Nightsister Merrin dueled fallen Jedi Bode Akuna in the Jedi Temple and killed him. As a result of Kestis and Merrin's victory, the Temple would later be used by the Hidden Path, a secret network with the goal of protecting Force-sensitives from persecution by the Galactic Empire.
