Description: Pax was a Gran pirate who was a member of Captain Silvo's crew during the era of the New Republic. He took part in the boarding of a merchant freighter and helped overwhelm its crew, but once the freighter was revealed to be carrying only a single credit in its vault, Pax and the others mutinied against Silvo.
With Brutus as their new captain, the pirates then traveled to Port Borgo, where Pax helped Brutus capture a group of children. After Silvo escaped and was recaptured, Pax attended his trial aboard Brutus's frigate and nodded when the former captain was sentenced to death. However, when Silvo promised the pirates riches if they followed him to an Old Republic mint on the planet At Attin, Pax beat a fist against his chest as Silvo sang a shanty.
The pirates then traveled to At Attin and found it surrounded by a Barrier that they could not pass. After they captured the Onyx Cinder, a ship that could pass through the Barrier, Silvo killed Brutus while the pirates boarded the vessel. Back in command, Silvo ordered Pax and the pirate Kona to capture the group of children on board the Onyx Cinder, which the pair did. After watching a holographic message from the childrens' parents on the ship, Pax, Kona, and Silvo were knocked out by the droid SM-33 after the child Fern reclaimed ownership of the vessel.
Biography
Mutiny
Pax was a Gran pirate that served in the crew of Captain Silvo aboard a pirate frigate during the era of the New Republic. After a few lean cycles in which some of the crew started to doubt Silvo, the frigate attacked a merchant freighter and puncutred its sides with drill-tipped boarding tubes. Pax and many other pirates rushed down the tubes onto the freighter, with the first of them through gunned down by the merchant crew. Pax was among the next wave, which made it on board safely, opening fire on the merchants and quickly overwhelming them.
With the remaining merchants taken prisoner, Pax and the other pirates made their way to the freighter's magnetically sealed vault, where Silvo tried to force the merchant captain to open it. The captain refused, and Silvo ordered that he be thrown out the airlock before ordering a pirate to open the vault with an arc welder. As Pax and the other assembled pirates waited, Silvo spoke to them of the lean cycles and promised credits within the vault; however, once it was opened the vault was revealed to contain only a single credit. As the pirate Brutus berated the captain for the lives lost over a single credit, other pirates drew their weapons on Silvo in mutiny. Pax did not draw his, but instead patted Silvo on the shoulder while gnashing his goat-like teeth. Silvo then punched the Gran in the head before swinging at other pirates.
With Brutus as their new captain, the pirates took the frigate to the asteroid Port Borgo. After a group of children from the mythical planet At Attin arrived in the port, they got into an altercation with Pax's crewmate Vane and several other pirates over the Old Republic credits they were carrying. Hearing about the commotion, Brutus made his way to the children's location with Pax and other members of the crew, gunning down the childrens' droid SM-33. Brutus then left Pax and the others to throw the children in the port's brig.
Trial
The children soon escaped from the brig with Silvo, who had also been imprisoned there. The pirates eventually re-captured Silvo on the planet Lanupa and he was brought to Brutus' frigate for trial. Pax was among those who gathered to watch and nodded while others cheered when Brutus found the former captain guilty and sentenced him to death. The pirate Chaelt then interupted and reminded Brutus of Silvo's Right of Last Appeal under the Pirate's Code, and so Silvo was given equal time to defend himself.
Pax listened as Silvo reminded them all how hungry they were for wealth, having survived only on the scraps the galaxy had offered. The former captain then suggested he had a way for them to generate their own endless wealth, revealing an Old Republic credit that the Gran leant forward to see. Silvo then informed the pirates that he had learned of the location of a mint that could make the credits from the legendary pirate Tak Rennod and began singing a chant about about Rennod's journey to At Attin. Pax beat one fist against his chest as Silvo sang with other pirates joining in and then cheering when Silvo revealed the mint was on At Attin. With the equal time run out, Brutus declared that they would travel to At Attin to search for the mint, but that Silvo would still be executed if they were disappointed.
Further changes in leadership
When they arrived at At Attin, the pirates found it surrounded by a Barrier that destroyed the snub-fighter of the pirate Glerb when he was sent in as a volunteer. The Onyx Cinder, a starship that Silvo knew could safely pass through the Barrier, then arrived alongside the frigate and was captured, with the pirates dragging into the frigate's hangar with a tractor beam. Pax was then part of a group who accompanied Brutus and Silvo to board the Onyx Cinder, waiting at the base of its boarding ramp with weapons drawn as Brutus ascended first.
The captain was then grabbed by a cargo arm from within the ship, which help him helpless in midair as a voice from within the ship demanded that the pirates let them leave if they wanted to avoid Brutus coming to harm. Silvo took Brutus's blaster musket and shot the mutineer, turning to Pax and the other shocked pirates and asking if anyone still wanted to follow the Shistavanen. Lowering their weapons, Pax and the others accepted Silvo's return to leadership, and the restored captain ordered the Gran and the pirate Kona to board the Onyx Cinder and capture the four children they would find within, the same children the pirates had previously capture on Port Borgo.
You call that a knife? This is a knife
Pax and Kona successfuly took the children hostage and confined them to one of the Onyx Cinder's tables as Silvo and the droid SM-33 searched in the vessel's cockpit for the technology that allowed the Onyx Cinder to pass through the Barrier. Noticing an incoming transmission, Silvo played it and discovered it was a holographic message from the childrens' parents on At Attin. Kona left Pax to guard the children and entered the cockpit to watch, but when the children tried to follow, Pax held them back with a large knife, growling at them in Huttese.
The Gran then moved through to the cockpit to watch the hologram as well, leaving the children to plot how they might regain control of the ship. As the message ended, the child Wim charged into the cockpit to try and attack Silvo, but Pax quickly grabbed him; however, the other children the attack Pax, allowing Wim to struggle free and continue his charge. Kona then grabbed Wim and Pax used his knife to push back the other children, with the child Neel quickly apologizing to the armed Gran. Silvo ordered Kona to chain up Wim, but when the child claimed that the Onyx Cinder belonged to him and the other children rather then Silvo, SM-33 pointed out that the ship was currently unclaimed, since Silvo had become captain of the pirate frigate instead.
Wim attempted to claim the ship, but Silvo covered the child's mouth and reclaimed it for himself. SM-33 accepted this, but the child Fern then pushed past Pax and called "unclaimsies" before claiming the ship, which SM-33 decided was "close enough" and knocked out Silvo. Pax and Kona then opened fire on the droid, but he deflected their bolts with wrist shields and knocked the pair out, dumping all three unconcious pirates on the hangar floor of the frigate. Silvo then woke quickly enough to re-board the Onyx Cinder before it took off and entered the Barrier.
