         Compressible Cartilaginous Skeleton: Shahkirin have a skeleton which is flexible and compressible, allowing them to fit into smaller spaces than their already small body would normally fit, and reach into tight spaces with ease. This makes them impressively dextrous and capable of making repairs on devices which would be hard for other species to make. They are also natural climbers, gaining a +1D to their climbing skill.

One Shahkirin was a member of the Rebel Alliance in 2 BBY, being present at the Alliance base on the moon Yavin 4 that year. Another member of the species, Yipsit, grew up on the planet Bestine IV and served as a Resistance mechanic at its base on the moon Ajan Kloss by 35 ABY.

Biology and appearance
The Shahkirin were a sentient species who originated from the Inner Rim Territories celestial body Shahkir. They had two arms and two legs, and a flattened head with a toothed mouth as well as eyes on its sides. The species had a compressible cartilaginous skeleton, and the Shahkirin Yipsit had tan skin and gray hair and was approximately half the size of an adult human in height. Another Shahkirin was also of comparable size and had similar skin and hair color.

In 2 BBY and 1 BBY, a goggle-wearing Shahkirin member of the Rebel Alliance was present at the Alliance base on the moon Yavin 4 of the Outer Rim Territories. Yipsit grew up on the cliff-faces of the Inner Rim planet Bestine IV, which imbued him with an innate confidence related to climbing.

By 35 ABY, Yipsit, who similarly wore mechanized magnigoggles, served as a mechanic at the Resistance base on the Outer Rim Territories moon Ajan Kloss. There, the Shahkirin helped with the refurbishment of the decades-old, 108-feet-tall CR90 corvette Tantive IV. Yipsit would confidently scale the corvette's armored hull and use his small size to crawl into access tunnels that adult humans were unable to enter.
